^ it's not unlucky, he just choked. As Sampras once said everyone chokes, especially if they play long enough.

Hits every ball right back to him, just not smart

Every great career has its end. Unfortunately his glorious career is not going to have a glorious end. It's just the way it goes. He came oh so close but as he's aged we see that he often lets chances slip away

I wonder if he will play 2017, it might look like a Kobe Bryant style farewell tour unfortunately

One of the worst losses of his career, no doubt.

It was a tremendous career. We will see if it's enough to withhold Djokovic's assault or even Nadal if he gets rejuvenated. The last 6-7 seasons have been littered with missed opportunities like today, he really should've had another 2-3 majors at the bare minimum if he had held his nerves at all on these big moments. But oh well.

it was a bad way to finish for Federer, there was no doubt he should've closed it in set 4 but did everything not to. Starting with 2 consecutive double faults out of the blue after leading 40-0 in that game, and hitting back to Raonic when court was open, very strange indeed.

that final wave to the crowd as he left the court was a bit weird too, like saying goodbye?

for years time has caught on with him, not just now so it's not really a surprise. Then again what do you expect from a guy in his mid 30s? i bet he'd make the best player on seniors tour, since he is just about being qualified age wise.

Congrats to Milos for his first final, the way he hang in there and his composure. Even though I do agree that Roger gave the 4th away, it wasn't like he was serving for the set there. He was serving to get it to a TB. It was not given that he was going to win that TB. Milos has a good TB record.
It did look like the end for Roger but I am tired of counting him out and him coming back and proving me wrong, so...
