Those are just the rules of the game. Not sure exactly why, but that's just how it goes.

I haven't seen anyone mention this but actually Murray shouldn't "really" have been ranked number 1 yet - at no point has he had the most points in the last 12 months, the only reason he got up there after Paris was because last year's Tour Finals points came off a couple of weeks early for some reason.

The final in play as we speak, though, so the opportunity to change that this evening.

It is not due to error. That is how the system works. QUote from ranking FAQ below.

"The Emirates ATP Rankings period is the immediate past 52 weeks, except for:
The Barclays ATP World Tour Finals, which is dropped on the Monday following the last regular-season ATP event of the following year;".

As there was a week gap between Paris and WTF, last year's WTF points came off after 50 weeks.

I know it isn't a mistake, but the world number one should be the most points in the last 12 months, this wasn't the case with Andy until he won yesterday.

It is still remarkable on how Murray surpassed Djokovic in the rankings in a span of 5 months. He was behind 8,000 points behind Djokovic after the French Open final. Now, he is ahead of him by 450 points.

Murray's numbers after the French Open final are staggering.

50-3 with 8 titles and he reached 9 finals in 10 tournaments he played in the second half of the season. In addition, the Olympics win did not earn him any ranking points.

So in theory, if he only won half of those titles, he will still be number 2 player in the world.

In spite of some people think nothing is imposible and more when there are good bases.
Muzz since his awful RG final is playing mentally stronger than the others which is helping to develop his game better and we can see his good results

Ya, I agree with you. It is good that Andy actually won the WTF and cemented his #1. Had he not done that (and if he never reached #1 again), there would be a BIG asterisk over his two weeks of #1 based on 50 weeks worth results. :cover
