Brotha, it'd take a tornado to keep me from watching a Packer game and even then I'd probably tear the TV out of the wall and take it down to the basement. If it was the USO final tonight I might make the effort to switch it on between downs. Just a QF... switch it on during commercial breaks maybe.

Ah! I forgot the NFL is back. I don't follow the ins and outs in the off season closely enough. But I did notice that the Giants haven't been playing Eli all the time. Darth do you think he'll still be their starting quarterback? Seems to me the whole team was poor last season. Over here (in London) the pundits are talking about a Broncos vs Packers superbowl. Just hope my guys can bring it this year (Giants fan if that wasn't obvious already!)

Yes the NFL is back!! Best time of the year. Eli will be the starter, offhand I don't even know who their backup is but we know Eli is really really inconsistent which means he will likely have a solid year in 2014 and another awful one in 2015. Giants are full of surprises and have been a pain for GB the past decade. They are my 2nd favorite team though due to all the relatives out in New Jersey.

I've been a fan of the Giants since the late 80s. Phil Simms and LT. Good times! But as you say incredibly inconsistent. You just never know, even if they just scrape into the play offs, if it'll be their year or not. But when they get on those streaks, they are mighty! :)

Guess I won't be seeing it at all, they are having a stupid old bag doubles match at 7 Eastern with Blake and Mac vs. Courier and Wilander.

You could stream the match on a laptop, with the tv still on the game. Assuming you have, espn, their streaming is great.

What a wonderful community we have, where we help one fan schedule his sports intake:rolleyes:

Only problem is - if the Packers are stinking it up, Darth will be tempted to throw/break the thing closest to him. The DVR is a better bet. :p

Back on topic...

It's not like I'm going to change my vote (Fed in 3), but I've looked at the stats from Monfils matches. While Fed is something like 25-1 playing at night, I'm wondering if Monfils might not have a few surprises in store for most of us. Roger needs to come out on top of his game and shut his opponent down quickly, or something ugly might happen.

Only scenario I think Monfils wins is if he wins the first 2 sets. Roger is God awful in 5th sets yet I still can't picture him losing a 5th to Monfils. I will follow the scores on my phone once in awhile tonight.

This is what I think. I think Monfils probably picks up a set or two, but falls apart at the end.

He should pick up 1 at the very most. Roger plays decent, runs him ragged and eventually Monfils comes apart. If he loses 2 that might compromise him for the semis.

Much damage was caused the last time Green Bay played the Seahawks. Thankfully the replacement refs are back to cleaning the sewers they crawled out of.

Roger in 4 sets,he does have lapses of concentration, the reason I am giving one to Monfils.

Great point between the old guys in doubles! 41 shot rally, all 4 at the net, and a lot of balls never dropped. Fun!

:snigger That's just wrong.

You cannot be serious! It was hilarious. Roger's dad was laughing. And McEnroe still has some hands at the net, come on.
