very good level of players for an event after a grand slam.
simona danger is bojana in r2. I am less worried by kvitova and the itallians!
bojana can kick simo off the court with her power and dynamic play
its a good practice for the next events with her new coach wim fissette.

I would be more worried about her first round match against Kristina, she just won a grand slam title in mixed doubles, she is confident.

Then in the second round, Petko could be there instead of Bojana. Even more dangerous...
Overall, Simona has a tough draw here.

I will be polite and not say "you must be kidding" about Kristina who cant get any quality win in singles. I cant remember her beating any top 30 player in last 6 months. She lost to all of them if I am not wrong. mixed doubles is not taken seriously and there is a reason for that. Rafa, Serena and all the top players don't play it. Its just a fun event. Ignore her grand slam. Its not the "real world"...
The old Petko was better than Bojana but the old Petko hasn't showed up yet. She struggles with her comeback, check her results. That's why I predict Bojana to beat her.

BUT THERE IS A BUT... in women tennis expect the unexpected. Ask Dominika from Slovakia about that.. surprises can always happen and then someone adds a new found "logic" to the result

My prediction: an easy win for Simona Halep in r1 and just a bit harder win for Bojana v petko. I may be bragging and showing off but I really think that Kristina cant bother Simona. I am following her results and she is not doing well at present. My chances of winning: 90% to Simona, 70% to Bojana.

Kristina is ranked 75 now. If Simona loses this match to such a stagnated player who has no progress in her career, then Simona should quit tennis

Overall its an easy draw for Simona in this event. Kviti can show up with new form and Knapp may be dangerous, but over all its a good draw. On the other half of draw there are 4 dangerous players to Simo: maria, pavly, kerber, Navarro. Simona is lucky for the second event in a row.
It depends on Simona's form and no one knows her mood, not even her...

Mona Barthel wont win it this year and Kristina wont play the final. I guess that the field was much weaker last year without maria,kerber,kvitova,navarro but I haven't checked.
Simona may end losing to Kristina because its "women tennis and sports"... who knows.. it wont harm her rankings anyway.
That's the real fun of women tennis. The unexpected results and the relatively good looking players (i.e. Kristina)

Big win for petka she is one of my favorites on tour. I hope she finds her form again.. only after her match with simo
