SC on:

Obviously if the US Government doesnt give Novak a special exemption to play IW its because they are haters and its policies are all aimed specifically at depriving him of computer points. Their policies are so transparently just agsinst him as a martyred individual.

Sarcasm now off.

To be honest, I don't see any sound reason why they'd give him an exemption. His behaviour last year is Australia was disgraceful, after his behaviour in Serbia or wherever he was when he claims he'd tested positive for Covid, then decided it's a great idea to hang around being photographed with a bunch of kids, and do a television interview. Regardless of anyone's opinions on wearing masks etc, that was either arrogant or stupid, and it flouted the law...

Well I was ok until you got to "arrogant or stupid!" No one at the top of anything can be any less than a POS at times; sans Stefan Edberg maybe! Players like Nadal double down w/ being incommunical after all these years! Probably spending more time w/ his DC team mates stunted his ability to absorb conversational English! Being top dog on the tour is one of the many reasons to rise to heights of fame, riches, & entitlement! Who wouldn't love to be excused for something an "ordinary Joe" would be arrested for? Who are we KIDDING? Nadal & Federer have run the tour on and off the court w/ impunity! Novak has been their only "downer!" :astonished-face: :face-with-hand-over-mouth::fearful-face::face-with-tears-of-joy:

Brother, I don’t speak any language other than English so I’m hardly in a position to criticise a top player for being unable to speak English better than Rafa can. I think his English is very good, that’s the true, no?

One of Fiero’s “endearing” qualities is disparaging Rafa’s English speaking skills.

As someone who speaks & writes both English & Spanish , and has given public presentations in both for decades, i would say Rafa’s command of English is actually quite good.

Some confuse having an accent with poor speaking ability but its better to focus on the actual content of what someone says, as opposed to letting your bias take over.

It’s nice for the whole of Europe, a hugely populated bloc of many diverse results and policies with regard to covid. Traffic into Europe has been busy for a long long time now. Covid is not the plague, even at its worst it wasn’t as bad as they made out. Statistically. That’s fine, I have no problem with countries trying to manage covid - and their own political situations - as they want to. That’s what sovereignty means.

But your country is very slow to move on..
You already know why. Too much party politics. The only thing they agree on is how much they loathe the other.

That’s it. They’re poisonous, and the ones affected by their games are you. It’s a pity there’s no mask to protect us from toxic politicians…

Djokovic called a "sudden" press conference, but I guess not so sudden...maybe tomorrow? To talk about his injury and his appeal to the US for special dispensation entry into IW and Miami. Tommy Haas (IW director) has said he's done what he can to get Novak in. Will be interesting to hear what Novak has to say. IW starts 8 March, so there is still a window, but it is closing.

Novak will hold press conference in Belgrade tomorrow at 1pm
Tommy Haas is only the director of IW, I mean honestly he is not in government and as I understand the rule is no foreign people are allowed in unless vaccinated against COVID? is that correct?

You are correct. The rules have not changed. Tommy Haas has no sway. I was just trying to be generous to act as if it mattered what he said.

FYI: This is the ruling, updated as of 30 Dec. 2022, so fairly recently:

Moxie,

Novak is still waiting for an answer on IW/Miami, process is ongoing, he is glad he has the support of the tournament directors, he hopes the third party which makes the decision will think the same
Novak will play Dubai, he is close to 100% intensity, the injury is good.( I have seen Novak praciting on HC in Belgrade, he looks sharp to me)
Novak already looking to the French Open, he wants to face Nadal, who he said was his biggest rival.

It doesn’t sound as though he’s expecting to play IW or Miami from some of the comments I’ve read recently.

Medvedev is back to playing his brand of feisty tennis, but last week he only really had his perennial patsy FAA and a shadow of former Murray to overcome. It will be a good test for both Novak and Daniil if they play in Dubai.

What has Novax breaking the Covid laws got to do with Rafa :face-with-tears-of-joy: :popcorn

They're not laws, they are mandates. Look in a Black legal dictionary. A mandate requires a mandatory (somebody to contractually accept the mandate). Law = Constitutional Law. Legal = Acts and Statutes that you accept because you assume they are "law" and accept the contract. The entire world runs off people's ignorance, and in this day and age, it's not surprising because people are born into the system and indoctrinated from cradle to grave.

Wow...and I'm often called a pill on semantics. However, if you're implying that laws and mandates are not equally enforceable, that would be incorrect, at least here in the US.

This I found interesting in the Miami Herald, re: Djokovic visa exemption possibilities. No one has explained it so clearly to me as James Blake, who is now the Miami Tournament director. Because the current mandate is set to expire 11 May, the tournament has requested on exemption on behalf of Djokovic. Perhaps IW did the same thing. Anyway, it's never been clear to me what their "supporting" him meant.

Do you really think pushing the 'economic' factor will allow Djokovic to play? time is running out the draw for IW is set for March 5th

Immigration: President Biden, Djokovic who is unvaccinated is requesting for an exemption to play Indian Wells and Miami. Do we give it to him?

BIden: Who and what?

Immigration: Novak Djokovic, he is a tennis player.

Biden: I know Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer and Venus & Serena. I don't know who Navok Dokovic is.

Immigration: The guy who got deported from Australia and disqualified from the USO.

Biden: Oh him...

Immigration: Ok, so we don't give it to him?

Biden: NO. But if the players that I mentioned want the exemption then give it to them, they are icons in the USA.

Immigration: Sir, they are already vaccinated.

BIden: Ok great. Well, don't forget to say hi to Rafael Nadal on my behalf.

Immigration: Sir I don't know him or have his number.

Biden: Find it.

Immigration: Yes sir!

The end.
