This game rubs me in the wrong way but anyway he played big, big boy tennis against Medvedev. If he, Medvedev himself and Zverev keep showing this level (big if), 2020 might be very different from the last years.

Wouldn't that be something; if Nadal were to drop all 3 matches to players he's never lost to? There's a very good chance! :yesyes:

He wants to guarantee he won't have to face Federer.

Yes, if Novak wins all his matches (can't lose even a single RR match) he secures #1 ranking.

Current lead of Rafa is 440 pts. Even if Rafa wins the next two matches and the semifinals, his lead would only improve to
440 + 2*200 + 400 = 1240.

But that can be overcome by Novak getting two more RR wins, SF win and F win (400 +400 +500 = 1300).

If Rafa loses one more match, Novak can afford to lose a RR match and still get to #1 by winning WTF.
Thank you!

So that is excellent news then. Novak has things on his racket. I had kind of given up on the YEno1 after Shanghai. Let's see how it goes.

I'm not sure of the difference between "tentative" and he was "uncomfortable and his timing was a bit off." Again with the court speed? By all accounts it's fast, not slow. But it definitely gives no kick for his topspin. And yes, kills whatever is generally difficult about his shots. Still, today he hit a lot short, and straight back at Zverev. He had no angles, and won very little off the FH, which is rare for him. Serve sucked. He needed more free points, or better point starters.

Rafa was aweful. Surface is not doing him any favours.

I must say though that Z did take his chances. He hit some really nice DTL winners. And only two DFs I believe.

If Djoker win Thiem 2:0, is there any chance he could win Fed and let him also to pass ?

It's possible for Nole to be at the top of the group at 3-0 while the rest 1-2 if Thiem were to drop easy one to Matteo! Not likely!

Novak could also still go 1-2 :p We shall see.

I hadn't even considered it with the way Roger's playing! Got annihilated by Thiem & survived Matteo who pushed him to a TB set!

Annihilated = 1 break per set lol. OKKKKKKAAAY.

There was no question who was in charge genius! Thiem determined outcome! Roger was helpless! :nono:  :banghead: :cuckoo: :finger:

He lost serve stupidly both times. Opening service game of the match he dropped serve. He has no one but himself to blame. There was no annihilation. He just lost. It happens.

Early break to Novak, then Dominic breaks back at love.
