Rule Change Experiments:

- Shorter Format: First to Four games sets (Tie-Break at 3-All), Best-of-Five sets, with No-Ad scoring

Shorter set format designed to increase number of pivotal moments in a match, while the best-of-five set format does not alter the number of games required to win a match (12) from the traditional scoring format. No-Ad scoring will be played (receiver’s choice).

- Shorter Warm-Up

Matches will begin precisely 5 minutes from the second player walk-on, leading to a reduction in down time before the beginning of matches.

- Shot Clock

A shot clock will be used in between points to ensure strict regulation of the 25-second rule, as well as during set breaks, Medical Time-Outs, and the five-minute countdown from the player walk-on to the first point of the match.

- No-Let Rule

The No-Let rule will apply to serves, bringing in an additional element of unpredictability at the start of points.
This rule will also remove any ambiguity over let calling from umpires, ensuring the rule is consistent with normal ‘let’ occurrences during regular point exchanges.

- Medical Time-Outs

A limit of 1 medical time out per player per match.

- Player Coaching

Players and coaches will be able to communicate at certain points in the match (to be determined), providing additional content and entertainment value for broadcast. Coaches will not be allowed on-court.

Gianluigi Quinzi? Is he even in the top 200? I remember his name from a few years ago. He's going to get destroyed.

^Maybe not. Not a single one of the players on the field ended the year on a high note. The information was that they would hold a little tournament to decide the eight spot, so the guy at least is winning lately -- against worst competition, I know, but still.

I am rooting for the Russians, btw.

Yeah, he's in by virtue of the qualifying tournament. Not even ranked in the top 300!

A no name basically... that alone makes a nonsense of this whole thing in my view.

I'll stop now, I think this whole thing is a stupid idea. And when Fedal finally disappear and the young ones are competing for major titles I wouldn't be surprised if this thing just disappears.

^I guess this is meant to disappear anyway, but they are trying to soften the transition to the non Fedal era (not that I agree with it, honestly for me the best thing to replace them is a nice Djokovic-Wawrinka rivalry. Their last 5 or 6 matches were absolute classics, with insane tennis being played).

^I second that. Djokovic Wawrinka have been some of the best matches I've seen in the last few years. Can't remember a bad one among them. But... I was listening to Guy Forget talking about Novak a few days ago. He said that Novak has tried playing a couple of times, but could only do it left handed. How on earth is he going to be ready for Australia?

^really? that sucks immensely. Hope Forget is one of those people who keeps always confusing left and right (just like people from a certain gender at the wheel.... :p:p:p:p:p:p:p:p:p:p:p)

I kind of get it although I'm not hugely interested in it... Like @mrzz said, I think the whole Nextgen concept was to ease the transition from the big names who have been so dominant. Milan have a five year contract so it'll be around for a while. It might work as a slow burner for marketing purposes.

Rule changes are interesting... any you'd pick for the mainstream? I like tennis as it is generally.

Come on, 7 players are selected by merit and one player is a wild card. That wild card is given to an Italian player who wins a qualifying
tournament among 8 young Italians. So, I don't consider it a travesty. After all the locals need some reason to go to the tournament also.

Having an event to showcase youngsters is important and leads to promotion and development of the game without vaccum at some periods of time. Finally, this is much better even to have than the Loser's WTF that WTA holds.

1. What does no-ad scoring based on receiver's choice means. Does the receiver get to determine whether to use regular scoring or
no-ad scoring?

2. I pick Shap ( or may be Coric who is more mature than others).

3. You have listed only seven players. I think you are missing one.

Just heard the news that a lot of people got offended by the draw ceremony of the NextGen finals. What a bunch of suckers. Now the fucking ATP and I don't know who else quickly ran and said "sorry"... doesn't anyone has guts in the world anymore, to say "fuck you" in the face of this ridiculous moral police?

Funny is that in two places where I read the news it said that the players felt embarrassed by the ceremony, which is a lie, most of them were laughing and having fun. I guess one or two were serious, but anyway it does not mean embarrassed. As the supreme retard would say, fake news!

.

No, it's a sudden death point - the winner of the point wins the game, but the receiving team gets to decide which side of the court they receive on.

Couldn't agree more.
