Both had it tough getting to the final! It'll be a wonder if they have the energy to make it thru effectively! :nono:

It was the SF. Better to have tight exciting matches than some beatdowns.
It will contribute to the popularity.
Let's remember, these players someday would be the stars.

I’m buying Tsitsipas stock - I’m a believer. He doesn’t seem to have any major holes with a pretty complete game.

I feel like we’re finally in a good era for young talent - best cohort since the Novak-Rafa generation.

Congrats Perseus!

We did not hear much from Chung after his NGWTF win last year, except for a good run at AO.

But, I think we will hear a lot from Perseus next year.

Also, I just checked and found out that Perseus was the second alternate at this tourney last year and was already in top 100 at the end of last year. Although I did not know about him until Barcelona of this year, he did not come out of nowhere.

You guys keep forgetting that Chung had a very serious ankle injury in the spring. He was doing well until then.

How many (and which ones) of the 7 legit entrants of this year's event still eligible for next year?

3 of them:
Tiafoe, Tsitsipas and De Minaur.
Shapovalov who elected not to play will be also eligible, being the youngest of all.

Most probably Perseus will qualify for WTF next year and thus voluntarily give up on the Kiddie WTF tourney (like Sasha did this year and last year).

There are many in our forums who keep on the look out for young and upcoming players. But, I believe that Perseus was on no one's radar until he did well on Barcelona. If you think he was on your radar, claim so (but with proof).

Not me! Saw ST's name a few times, but years ago I saw Simone and Gulbis every week during the clay season! They went nowhere!

I remember seeing his name a few years ago and having him on my Next Gen radar, but only because I pay attention to such things - like highest ranked players by birth year. But I had no idea he’d possibly be the most promising player of his generation.

Yes, people talked about him (I was not even sure that he was talked about until I read the link you posted). But, no one seems to have taken him under their wings (like say JLLB did Borna Coric).

Tsitsipas just named Most Improved Player of the Year by ATP.
