Hope Shapovalov wins this
I like him too.
How's Rublev been doing these days?

I had this feeling that this was a tester event to see about making ATP events go this route to shorten matches! Wouldn't bother me!
I highly doubt that will ever happen. That would be like shortening a baseball game to 6 innings...it just flies in the face of too much hallowed tradition.
If they want to shorten matches, there are other ways: speed up at least some courts, enforce the serve clock, and little things here and there (like limit the number butt picks and other OCD tics ).
I am sure is not physical, rather mental fatigueHe's exhausted? LOL how can youngsters give exhaustion as an excuse when 30+ players are still playing?
Right. Good on Stefanos and Alex De MinaurThe top dog of each group is living up to expectation so far.
Thanks for the reports . I wish I was able to watch some of it .Managed to watch glimpses of today matches while I was having lunch. Hurkacz x Munar was very entertaining, completely different players but both seem to have a big upside. Hurcakz fired a passing shot which was worthy of Nadal (on the run, small opening, a lot of side spin). Munar is a very good counter puncher, but can attack as well. The Pole still has some rough edges to polish, while the Spaniard needs a speedier serve.
De Minaur needs the muscles. Rublev to spend some rubles in his backhand.
That sounds good on paper, but the same thing was said about football to shorten them; continuing clock even if someone runs out of bounds, etc.! The games are still lasting well over 3 hours; some almost going to 4 hours! It's a joke since most people or teams work the system to slow down things to a crawl to save themselves! Rafa's still abusing the clock even dragging out 2 towels! He has to shift his junk and tug on his underwear ever so often & relentlessly bounce the ball before serving! They all do it some extent and the judges do little to nothing; 'cept maybe Carlos who Rafa hates! :cuckoo:
Stefanos equally impressive, won all his matches.
Him and D-minor were the top dogs, they move on undefeated.
It was a 3 way tie among Munar, Hurkacz and Tiafoe, as each of them managed a victory:We have another one of those match-ups with someone losing 2 matches, but still makes the SF in Jaume Munar! Reminds of a tournament well over 30 years ago set up like the YEC; more an exhibition where Roscoe Tanner made the SF and subsequently the Finals against Connors making it with just 1 win in the RR! It went 5 sets with the TB's at 5 ALL!
