Brisbane is Jan 1-8. I don't know if he can be in two places at once, especially opposite sides of the continent. I think it's almost a 6 hour plane flight. He'll drop only 150 points from 2016 final. It shouldn't take much to make that up.

Glad the pundits haven't written Rafa off completely and are still giving him his due.

Rafa Nadall is a crowd favorite and one of the best players that the sport has ever seen. Winning the #USOpen for the third time would be an amazing achievement, considering that many people predicted that Nadal would only be a clay court specialist. The current landscape of men’s tennis is so physical and with so many questions about Nadal’s stamina, winning this year’s tournament appears to be too much of an ask. That being said, if Nadal makes his way through the first week of competition, he may gain the momentum and belief needed to have another championship run.
