IIRC, Corretja pulled a "Nalbandian" and upset Sampras in 5 grueling sets to win his lone YEC! :clap  :dodgy:

I dunno, was that not a three set semi he beat Pete in, and then he beat Moyà from two sets down in the final? Lemme check! Yeah, he beat Pete 4-6, 6-3, 7-6, then Moyà , 3-6, 3-6, 7-5, 6-3, 7-5 in a match that I consider to be an even greater upset, given how Pete struggled to finish 1998. He was so knackered at the end of it that he skipped Oz in 1999, citing fatigue. That's wear and tear, people! That's how the game grinds down even short point specialists like Pete.
And ye wonder why Rafa looks jaded... :nono
Fiero425 said:- Update: The 5 set match I was thinking of was their USO contest where Pete was puking his guts out but won! :ras:

No idea but I was just extracting the urine (taking the p1$$) that he must be some genius to work out Nadal is not playing well. I mean give the man a f*****g cookie! :cover

It leads to losses which leads to less confidence which leads to more losses, and so forth. This is probably due to advancing age. So many players experienced anxiety creeping into their game as they got older.

A supremely confident player has no fear.

Yes Sir. We have got more posters who has become Rafa experts while they continue to be his pundits.
