Maybe Nole was just a little bit fresher today, having a w/o and Thiem coming of a mentally tiring match against Fed. Djoker raises his level like last year, but with much more confidence already before the Rome.

It definitely started here. It was either Darth or GSM. The longer you're here you'll find out a lot of players have nicknames that were coined on this site.

I started calling him that last year at Wimbledon when he took on Medusa (Isner). Perseus was turned to stone that day. Unfortunately today he will be gored by that asshole of a Minotaur.

I was surprised Novak won especially after going down an early break. I think he had lost the last couple on clay against Thiem including a beatdown in RG 2017.

Can’t believe Tsitsipas held to win that set. He’s mentally tough.

I studied a lot of mythology as a kid; Greek, Latin, Norse, etc.! I thought it refreshing to give that nickname to The Greek Freak! :p

The Freak is making me proud after that disaster in game 1 vs Celtics. Hoping he can take it further against @Murat Baslamisli's dinos.

Well the 2nd set is about toast; down a break with Nadal pumping himself! At least he'll keep him out a while if he can't close! Looking forward to final tomorrow whoever wins! Not accustomed to Nole sitting so long without a Masters' win; sans '17! I haven't been able to update any other number on "his blog" besides his stay at #1 (250 weeks)! Looks to overtake Connors and Lendl before the year is out; Sampras early next season! :yesyes:  :ptennis:

This match is over (Nadal just won the 2nd set). When Nadal gets on a roll like this, ther'es no way he'll lose - at least not to a 20-year old pup.

Gotta love Tsitisipas's heart. But these last few games display the difference between the three great ones and everyone else: I just don't see this higher gear in other players.

They need the elite players to make a few more mistakes; Nole & Federer a bit more vulnerable at this time! :nono: :banghead: :cuckoo:

If they need the elite players to do anything to beat them, then they'll never really claim their own place as greats. I mean, aging is inevitable, but I'd like to see some of these young guys come away with big wins on their own terms before the greats are so old that it will be like beating an old man in a wheel chair. What glory in that?

Tsitsipas absolutely needs to break Rafa here, and it is slipping away.
