In a disappointing season so far, Kudermetova saved 2 MPs tp force a 3rd set TB and gets the win against Kasatkina 75 16 76(2) a much needed win and she will face either Pegula or Trevisan next

Kudermetova defeats Kasatkina 7-5, 1-6, 7-6(2). With this result, Coco Gauff's world ranking will rise to #5.
Coco ranking of 5 because of another player being defeated, is no indication of how poorly of late Coco has been playing, she is lucky to be ranked at No 5, she is not playing at that ranking

It's okay she can take it,and she is gaining experience. She has reached a final before Badosa and Sakkhari who are years older than her including Bencic who was also a successful teenager.Coco's journey is going to be her own journey, there will be ebbs and flows .I can even predict that she is going to be a slam winner before a lot of experienced players. Her time will come and when she wins she will stun a lot of detractors.

Of course she will take it, though it is still no indication of how she is playing which is my point.,her play at present is not at a ranking of no 5. As a fan I would rather see one of my favorite players rise in the rankings for good play and results, not because of someone being defeated.

In their first meeting on clay, Krejcikova is finding out how tough Petra Martic on clay can be, Petra's best surface is clay, winning 2 titles she won the 1st set 63 and has a break early in the 2nd set, lets see if Babs can turn this match around.

Petra is playing awesome tennis. I'm enjoying this.

On a side note, I'm getting back to play tennis again. It's been too long since I touched the racket and today I played for 45 minutes and realized how much I missed it. I feel like I still got it and that it's never too late to get back hitting tennis balls. Just takes time to build lungs, improve movement and get a good feeling for the shots.

I knew you would be delighted with the way Petra is playing
Good for you getting back to playing tennis, my husband and I play a lot of doubles together in tournaments at our tennis club, though with work getting in the way at times, we havent played for sometime, maybe time for us to get back on the court as well lol!

Petra Martic was broken serving for the match at 5-4 though has fought back to take the 2nd set to a TB against Krejcikova
Martic played a great TB winning 76(1)

Martic d Krejcikova 63 76(1) Petra into the QFs awaits Swiatek or Alexandrova

Yes, I like the way she plays. When in form, she is good to watch.

That means you can curse at him without consequences when he miss some easy shot :) Life/work gets in the way way too often, when at home I am fully engaged with family stuff, I love cooking, I do groceries and even wash dishes. I drop the kid for school and for the activities he goes to. Luckily we don't need to drive much, just a few minutes. So my wife takes it easy when I'm around, while I take it easy when I'm far away on the ocean. Anyway, fitting a few hours of tennis in my schedule every week is like a missing piece. Now is spring and seems like a perfect time to start.

Well my hubby is also at sea as you are aware, when he is at home, I also take it easy lol! we are coming into our Winter here, though not as cold as in Europe, still I prefer to play when the sun is out even under cooler conditions.

Well she reached a slam final that's why she is where she is.She has beaten a lot of the top ten players with exception of Iga and Pegula. She has beaten Ons, Saba,Kudermetova and Kvitty. She had a coach and he is gone. What exactly do you want her to do?..

I am talking about her play at present not in the past, my opinion is her ranking of no 5, which is only because of a player being defeated is no present indication of her actual ranking, that is all and the way she has played in the last couple of months, if clay is her better surface she has not showed it, she has finalist points to defend at RG, on her present form there is no way she will defend those points, Kskate agrees with me.

As I thought this match would go 3 sets,
Trevisan loves the clay, SF at RG last year,,won the 2nd set 62, Pegula winning 1st set 63
Well done Jess against a tricky opponent on the clay winning 63 26 63!

Alexandrova is not backing away in her match against Iga she just broke Iga when she was serving for the match
5 games all 2nd set ( Iga won the 1st set 64)
Alexandrova will now serve to force a TB for the 2nd set 5-6
6 games all
TB now for the 2nd set
A well played TB from Alexandrova, she wins the 2nd set 76(3), Iga showing frustration at times through this match so far.

Alex just put Iga on notice by serving up several aces and service winners in the TB. She is here to play @ 12:30am. Going to a decider where Alex will serve first.. She has a win against Iga from 2 years ago. She will have belief

I had to laugh in one of the changeovers, Iga had a towel covering her whole head, it reminded me of Bepa lol!

Swiatek wins in 3 sets 64 (3) 63, she was pushed today in this match, needed all of her defense against a big striker of the ball in Alexandrova, who did not back down in this match
