If Murray doesn't take this semi tomorrow, he'll never be respected as part of the elite! IMO, he's still on the outside looking in after another abysmal AO final vs Nole!

What do you mean by 'elite'? If you mean near the top of the rankings, Andy has been a top 4 player for nearly a decade now. And if you mean being an all-time great, no, Andy is not an all-time great. Why would you expect him to be something he is not? And why would the result of a SF of a Masters event against a resurgent Rafa on his best surface and Andy on his least good surface make any difference either way to Andy's legacy?:puzzled Complete nonsense!

It's called an opinion! :cover  For the last couple years it's been Nole, then the rest as we all know so well! :puzzled :p

Well, if you mean that Nole is better than everyone else, I agree with you! I just don't understand how the SF tomorrow between Andy and Rafa has any bearing on this. Rafa has to be the favourite tomorrow, he beat Andy the other week in MC at the same stage, and has beaten Andy every time they've played on clay except last year's Madrid final, where he was a shadow of himself. So I don't see the match tomorrow as some sort of 'make or break' for Andy to be respected. It makes no difference to anything - except that it decides who plays in the final. But I don't see it as having long-term repercussions.

Edit: at least it doesn't make a major difference to Andy either way. If Rafa were to lose though, it would harm his current momentum and confidence a bit.

Kinda hilarious that if Murray doesn't win the tournament Federer is back to number 2 again having played 3 matches since the AO.

That tells you all you need to know and to understand where I'm coming from! This is a sad state of affairs if that were to happen! :cover :eyepop :nono

I get your point. As an aside, if Murray reaches F and then lose, Fed and Murray would be tied with the exact same number of points. It has been a long time since there was a tie in points at the top. Just an interesting (but meaningless) tidbit.

Didn't really care for the Djoker and Raonic match. Djokovic didn't have to do much as Raonic pressed too much, but Novak wasn't nearly as aggressive as he needs to be especially when it comes to warming up for RG.

Why expend that much to win such a match? Nole should save himself since he's getting up there and some are writing about him being bored! :nono  :dodgy:

NAH, if Rafa doesn't capture the title at Madrid, it will not hamper his current rejuvenated roll, he didn't win Madrid last year and has only won it 3 times , doing well at Barcelona and MC was his goal, they more similar to the surfacea at RG...Winning Madrid or doing well here is just house $ money nothing more than that for Rafa , IMO

Gotta admit though, as much as I dislike both their games and personalities, their matches are always entertaining.

Nadal's shots don't have the pop that they should since this plays like an indoor court. Too bad, even if he reaches the final............

They look a little short early on. He'll have to do better if he wants to win today.
