are we looking at a 7000th nadal/djoko final already ?..

defeat but bonus news is sinner is no19 in the live rank charts.
I tried hard not to pick that final in my draw, but couldn't seem to avoid it. Great news about Sinner, though.
Thank God for Youtube. I will rewatch the Rafa's match later today...I can't get up early to watch him..
I only saw a few highlights, but Rafa looked in fine form. It was only Delbonis, though.

Just finished watching Rafa's match......Ugh to purple against red clay Rafa,I won't make a comment on the color of those shorts
Thank goodness he is not wearing that outfit at RG this year.
Rafa will play Dimitrov 3rd up on Prince Rainer court, where he will have a tougher opponent....though the only time Dimitrov has beaten Rafa has been once on HC.
I was surprised to see Diego get beaten by Ruud?
My youngster Sinner has to have 'more balance' in his matches,he was too passive at times, also his serve went AWOL at crucial times in his match against Novak.....this is just a learning curve for the teenager.
Agreed about Rafa's outfit. Also of note, Dimitrov only beat Rafa in 2015, his worst year on tour. I was also surprised to see Schwartzman out. That messes up my draw. Looking at matches for tomorrow, I see that Krajinovic has beaten Fognini soundly the 2 times they have played, including on clay. But you never know with The Fog. Djokovic and Evans have never met. Tsitsipas beat Garin the only time they met, which was last year on clay, but it went 3. (Was Hamburg played last year?? I guess so.) Rublev v. RBA could be interesting. Also Goffin v. Zverev.

The Young Greek is not in my good books at present, his tirade against an umpire yesterday, telling him to go back to challenger's events? this is not the first time he has unleashed his anger against an umpire, I feel he is getting 'too big for his boots' and needs to come down a peg or two ,I will be hoping for a Garin win:) RBA better surface is HC,still he can play on clay,I feel he can win.

Wow, I didn't hear about that tirade against the ump, though I do remember him smacking his own dad on the arm with his racquet last year. Maybe he is getting "too big for his boots." A lot of these youngsters should consider what they've yet to earn before sounding off so much. I wouldn't mind at all if Garin shows him up. I don't think it did Tsitsipas any good when the media started calling him "The Greek God." He's got a ways to go. Agreed that RBA's better surface is HC, as is Rublev's. Rublev is a rising star who loves to go for broke. RBA is a smart veteran who knows how to play the margins. It could be very interesting.

So glad Rafa got by quickly from Delbonis in two relatively stress free sets.

The Argentine certainly is quirky and that serve...What you sometimes glimpse at the top of the Delbonis ball toss...

I'm watching the re-run now. That surely is an odd serve motion, and crazy high ball toss.

Evans takes the first set off Novak 6-4, but he did it the hard way...broke his serve 3 times! Lots of UFEs from Djoker...still looking a bit rusty. Plus, it's windy. Actually, I don't think it's windy, especially, but they say it's cold.

About 15C°, thats cold for these spoiled kids;). And it is windy.

Obi Wan won in straights against Zverev. I like his game and calmness, nice to see him playing much better again.

Djoker out in 2 against Evans. Very lackluster performance.

Thanks for the clarification, napo. I wondered if McFly might get that cap. He's playing better again, and Zverev not so much.

That would be a rule for basically one or two players. (I think Roger has won Basel 10 times.) I do get why Wimbledon has a separate rule for ranking grass, with such a shortened season. I am equally sure that the ATP and the rest of the players see nothing wrong with putting some kind of governor on Nadal on clay. The season is complete enough to keep the ATP rankings as the rankings for clay events. Think of it this way: without even a ranking advantage, Rafa has still won RG 13 times. I should look up how many times he's won it ranked #1, but I don't think it's even the majority of times.
To answer your trivia Moxie: Nadal has won the RG *only* three times as World Number 1: 2011, 2014 and 2018.

As World Number 2: Nadal has won RG seven times! 2006, 2007, 2008, 2010, 2012, 2019 and 2020

Stefanos Tsitsipas has a golden opportunity to reach another ATP Tour Masters 1000 Final with both Djokovic and Zverev being out. He needs to take this opportunity.

Fognini - Krajinovic is a real fight.
Nadal is destroying Grigor.

Rafa/Dimitrov: 6-1, 6-1

Definitely going to have to watch this match. Just saw the stats on the Nadal/Dimitrov and several things pop out. While Nadal’s first serving percentage of 65% was OK, he actually had a higher percentage of points won on his second serve than on his first serve. 83% second serve points won versus 79% first serve points won. In addition Rafa won an insane 100% second serve points in the first set.

I had to go out so I taped it, figuring I'd come back to Rafa having won the first, maybe 6-2 and up a break in the 2nd, but nope, it was done and dusted. Rafa said in the post match interview with TC that he thought he played solid, but that Grigor didn't have a great day, that he made a lot more errors than usual. He was very complimentary to Grigor, saying that they usually have tough battles.

Excellently sorted out, thanks, @rafanoy1992!
