Hewitt was pretty good in set 2 I thought and Rafa's FH was on fire. Wasn't too much he could do. But I agree he made some costly errors at times, most notably the game he got broken in set 2 which you could see a mile off.

This was like watching a boy play a man. The first set was vicious and malicious beat down.

I am disappointed that the match was not little bit more competitive.

In 4th round Rafa meets Fog and that may be more entertaining.

In one of his recent matches Fog mentioned Rafa by name when discussing
time violations with referees. Rafa surely must be angry with Fog and that will
potentially add more drama to that match.

Heavyweight vs a middle weight. End of story. Rat Face was delusional tonight thinking he could hit through Rafa. Came to a gunfight with a knife.

Folks, BTW Miami 2014 is the 10th anniversary of Rafa beating Fed for the first time.
Will we have a Fedal Final again? I am not particularly interested in that happening though.

I see that you were coming around to this again. And 9 years ago they played each other in the final.
It would have to be some wacky kind of record if they DID meet in the final. One can only hope.

If we can have the same result as in the final 9 years ago, I am all in for Fedal final.

^ Cautionary reminder: Nadal took the first two sets 9 years ago, so, by today's rules….

Anyway, that would be fun, but I don't care who Rafa beats to finally take Miami. ¡Vamos!

That was Tursunov, not Fognini. Fognini is actually second on the list of the players who have received the most time violations (tied with Del Potro) so he doesn't have a leg to stand on.

Nadal vs. Hewitt was never going to be competitive. This is an awful match-up for Hewitt (let alone at this stage in his career) anywhere except maybe on grass (where he'd still be a heavy underdog, obviously).

It's kinda what I alluded to in another thread re: Hewitt-Nadal at RG 2009. Hewitt can't just take Nadal's top spins on the rise with his backhand all match long and get good results. To his credit, he tries, but he doesn't have the fire power to do much with those high bouncing balls (or are we calling them moonballs now? Sorry, couldn't resist).

I stand corrected. It was indeed Tursunov.

Has Pete Bodo gone completely crazy or what?

He picks Milos Raonic to win the 1st quarter (which has Rafa in it) and
he picks David Ferrer to win the 3rd quarter (which has Fed in it).

Incidentally, his pick for the 2nd quarter, Marin Cilic, has lost the
very first match. However, I felt that this is more reasonable pick
than the above two as Cilic was bracketed between Stan and
Bird and both of them struggled in IW while Cilic seemed to be
on upswing.

this is the best I have seen Rafa play since his match vs Fed at AO and the US Open final vs Djoker. This was vintage Rafa, Low UFEs and powerful fh winners

yeh, but there was NOTHING RatFace could do to hurt him. Nothing. Going for winners? Serve and volley? Ludicrous. He was on a string skating side to side at full scrambling for his life from the first game. I actually enjoyed this execution.

Tsonga has not been playing well all year long, so he pretty much is on par with his current form.

In the TB Baggy led 5-1. then Jo wins next 5 points and he DF on set point:laydownlaughing

EDIT: Baggy is not any better, Tsonga wins the TB in the end, so they now go to a 3rd.

Great job by Jo to keep from going down. Allez Jo Wil! And what about Baggy? I thought he'd lost a little weight recently, but he looks he's usual pudgy self.

Baggy is not even a regular entry. He got in through WC and Tsonga has trouble
against him.
