I am disappointed that the match was not little bit more competitive.

In 4th round Rafa meets Fog and that may be more entertaining.

In one of his recent matches Fog mentioned Rafa by name when discussing
time violations with referees. Rafa surely must be angry with Fog and that will
potentially add more drama to that match.

Rafa and Rusty are both "winkers" it seems. They like to give a friendly wink at the end. Funny.

I saw you gave this a "like," Front. Note that the word was "winkers," ok?

:snigger:laydownlaughing Too good haha :D

Angry at what? The truth hurts.

yes Hewitt was awful, did he forget he was supposed to hit the ball in the court and not out of it ?, the fog should do some slice under serves if rafa is standing 9miles behind the baseline first point that he serves.

"is unfair serving like under no ?. now I blow the fog away to teach the ways of the vamos".

Hewitt was pretty good in set 2 I thought and Rafa's FH was on fire. Wasn't too much he could do. But I agree he made some costly errors at times, most notably the game he got broken in set 2 which you could see a mile off.

It was nice to see them play each other as it's been a while but you have to wonder if maybe he'd played a less than stellar Murray or Djokovic would he have had a chance at an upset? Against Murray anyway for sure.

Folks, BTW Miami 2014 is the 10th anniversary of Rafa beating Fed for the first time.
Will we have a Fedal Final again? I am not particularly interested in that happening though.

Recall that he took out JMDP in USO 2013.

Had forgotten that actually but I remember he took a set off Djokovic not too long ago and I definitely think he'd have stood a high chance of beating Murray. He won their Kooyong exhibition match and it appeared they were both taking that match pretty seriously.

Front, did you know what happened in the opening match of Fed vs. Karlovic. Fed won the
toss and elected to receive. Of course I am not comparing Fed to Elena Dementieva or
one thousand other WTA players.

But, I thought it was an interesting little strategy Fed tried yesterday. To top it off, it
paid and Fed got a break in the very first game. Once Fed had the break, the pressure
was off and so he could cruise his service games nicely and won the first set 6-4.

Also, did you know the other two interesting stat from the first match.

1. Average duration of Fed's service game during that match was 76 seconds.

2. Fed had 9 love holds in the 12 service games that he played.

^ Yeah, he sure played well against Dr. Ivo alright. Nadal and Fed look very good this tournament already. I miss Elena Dementieva. About the only player I can recall who was able to really challenge Serena at her best. I'm talking at her best as she had a tough match today but hardly played her best today. Dementieva was such a choker though but at least she won Olympic gold. Easily good enough to win a slam if it wasn't for her dodgy mental department in matches. When I see some of the WTA players out there with lone slams today it makes me sad Dementieva never won one as she's a whole lot better than a lot of them will ever be.

Once the ball gets into play, she is as good as anyone out there. ... and you are right,
she is a choker. She is not just a choker, she basically does not belive in herself.
But, I don't miss her that much though. I mentioned her by name because she
routinely used to elect to receive if she wins the toss.

That is why, I am worried this may end up in a Fedal final.

I see that you were coming around to this again. And 9 years ago they played each other in the final.
It would have to be some wacky kind of record if they DID meet in the final. One can only hope.

What's up with Marin Cilic? Are the drugs wearing off? :puzzled

He played fantastic 1st set against Novak in IW and he loses to a no-name in the
first match in Miami.

Always happens. In WTA, Pironkova played well at the start of the year and has done nothing since. Her best surface is grass and much like every other year I expect she'll do well there and zilch the rest of the year. Hate players like that. Such wasted potential.

Yup. Dumb strategy for such a smart player.
