What a collapse from Korda after he served for the match. He just vanished.

Same ol' Sebastian; another player who "can't finish!" Remember he was way up on Nadal at IW a few yrs. ago.! He had MP vs Novak at Adelaide, & now this one against Carlos when in control! Love his play, but not the inconsistent results! He has the game & ability! :astonished-face::yawningface::fearful-face::face-with-hand-over-mouth:

Same ole Chuck in Miami. After winning this as a teenager, he's done nothing here. Lost to McFly last year, Seb this year. Maybe too much off court curriculars and not enough practice. That serve (1st and 2nd) was dismal today. Today also illustrates the importance of coaching and game plan. Every 2nd serve kept going to Seb's BH which is his best shot. Seb to his credit was pummeling it.

And I don't want to hear any excuses about people playing above their level. You have no idea what anyone's level is because you aren't doing much scouting. #1 has to be ready to roll every time you step on court. You want to know how to play with a target on your back, ask Serena. She did it every time she stepped on court, even when she wasn't ranked #1.

MM, I don't see him hanging on to #1 this year. This was an opportunity to make up points. He did a great deal of winning from MC through the USO.

Lets see he does have a lot of points to defend coming up in the clay season. Jannik has no points to defend until Rome

I watched most of the match (up untill 5x4 in the second, then the last three games). Credit to Korda in a lot of aspects. Yes, he had one meltdown, but everyone and their dog expected him to lose the third 6x1 or so, and he hanged in there.

In the first, whenever Alcaraz raised his level (and he did), Korda kept his cool and kept playing well. That alone is a very tough ask. The level of the match itself was pretty good, but the important part (for Korda) is not the highlight points, is the fact that point in, point out, he hanged in there.

But as I said in a previous post, if he played like that consistently, he would be at very top. But he can always hope that this could be a turning point,

Agree Mrzz also Seb has had a horrific run with injuries ( surgeries), maybe coming back and winning could give him more belief going forward in his career

Sometimes I think it's a Spanish thing! Nadal's never won there & Gabriella Sabatini couldn't get over the hump for her fans in the area! :face-with-tears-of-joy::face-with-hand-over-mouth:

Carlos will be fine when he goes back to the clay his kicker serve works well and he does have more time on his shots
Miami low bouncing and fast, though Meddy said he thinks that IW played faster this year than Miami

Fils bagels Tsitsipas in the opening set
If Tsitsipas was more focused on the tennis and not complaining about the lets not being called or the lights not being bright enough he may be getting somewhere.

All I know is I am glad Fucsovice is gone and so is Tsitsipas because if they ever meet, I will not be responsible for the name of that match up !

Vacherot d Berrettini 76(5) 64 to reach the last 16 in Miami for the 1st time, getting closer to the Top 20
Berrettini was defending QF points and will leave the top 80 Meh!

Fils d Tsitsipas 60 61 who was more intent on arguing with the umpire of lets and lights not being bright enough!
One of the worst performances you see from Tsitsipas at this level!
A very good performance from Fils!
Stef to the umpire,
": You should be ashamed of yourself.Have you ever seen me serve and miss a fhand . It dosent happen.I cannot see the ball. I dont know how he sees the ball".
Stef had 3 Winners and 26 UFE in a 55 minute defeat
