But don't you think if Novak was anywhere close to healthy/able to play, he would have given it a go at Miami?

This move tells me that Novak is saving himself for Wimbledon, and we will likely see him next at Halle or Queens.
Why push for one more HC tournament before clay and grass? I'm with @Fiero425 ... Novak has every reason to rest the arm/shoulder and forget about Miami. What the hell is he playing for in Miami?

I don't know that that means he skips the entire clay season, though he might. Clay is a lot of wear and tear on the body, when he may consider grass his next best chance for a Major.

Djokovic still needs the work! Even though he's had some good results "pulling back" on his schedule, he does look rusty early on & needs to avoid the top players until the QF! Remember how he got to that AO Final; down 2 sets to Musetti B4 his retiring, then Draper WD in R16! Novak would have been heading home the 1st week if not for those fortuitous events! You see how Draper handled him in IW's after returning from injury! He literally outhustled Novak making him hit 1 more ball! That wasn't an upset as much as expected by me! Djokovic got ahead surprisingly, but it didn't last! Before the FO, only winning Monte Carlo benefits his record giving him a 3rd Golden Masters! He's skipping it! :angry-face::yawningface::fearful-face::face-with-hand-over-mouth:

So, let's face it: he doesn't need the work, he needs luck, at this stage in his late career. And even so, it hasn't been enough. You just said it. So better to rest, and hope for the luck.

PS: There is no such thing as a Golden Masters. That's invented, so he will not be caring about that fake stat. If Novak is skipping Monte Carlo, I wonder if he's skipping the clay season.

Let's not overlook, luck only played a part of Novak's effort at the Aussie Open! The only one more unlucky was Jannik Sinner catching the old man who slowly had played himself into the tourney, was well rested, & played a very offensive game, saving 16+ break pts. along the way of their 5 set match! It's a wonder Djokovic got that 1st set vs Carlos in the final! He should have been dead on his feet! :fearful-face::face-with-hand-over-mouth::astonished-face::yawningface:

Mrzz if you are around,

The Fonseca v Marozan match wont be on stadium court, because of torrential rain prior to tournament starting, they dont want to put Fonseca's match on the outside courts.Meaning Fonseca's match has been moved to Thursday, if he wins he may have to play Alcaraz with no rest, on Friday
He won! Remember back in the old days when they didn't rest a day between best 2 of 3 set matches? He'll survive.

What combo is the funniest? I mean anything with Tits is funny if you are a guy and immature like all of us but beyond that?
Say it out loud. Alkaseca is funnier. Plus, it's like AlkaSeltzer. That's fun to say. Sorry there's no tits or ass to satisfy adolescent boy humor, but I think you can reach beyond that. :lol6:

I no longer understand the question.
OK, forget about Alcaraz and Fonseca...what other two name combo is the funniest? Like, Tsitsipas and Sakkari played mixed doubles. I called them Titsak. I think it is funny. Maybe not. So now I am in search of the funniest combo name.

This is indeed a major flaw, but we luckily have TitsPissAss to fill that void single handedly.

Somebody around here (everybody?) calls him Titsypussy or something. Which sounds like a James Bond movie from the 80s, except with no good guy, and no feats of derring do. He finally won a tennis match yesterday, btw.

And so did Berrettini!

Ok, names aside...
I am watching the taped Fonseca/Marozsan match. I have not paid particular attention to Fonseca up until IW and I started watching him closely because some friends here think he will go places.
I think he has it. The serve is powerful and versatile. Solid backhand. He is not afraid to go forward and has a nice touch at the net. One thing that I worry about is what people seem to think is his biggest strength, the forehand. The wristy, snappy motion he has works nice for rallies , softer balls and hitting winners but how will it hold up against heavy hitters that go through the ball with more margin for error? His forehand motion has very little room for error in my opinion and his timing has to be literally perfect every time against power hitters.
He is not a lean dude, he is chunky in a Wawrinka type of way but he is quick. And he needs to work on the backhand slice, pretty much like everyone else. That shot neutralizes rallies and gets you back in points.
Overall I like him and I am pretty sure he is not just going to rush to change his forehand because I said so :) .

Pretty fun match between Berrettini and Bublik, with a very solid Babycakes.

Now, for the main event: Alkaseca!

EDIT: And the hype begins. They've already mentioned that Miami was the site of the first meeting between Federer and Nadal.
