I think we talked about this B4; m/b a month or so ago! I see Brooksby as a "Courier-clone" playing with a lot of intensity & passion! It's the reason Jim didn't last long at the top due to a lack of real skill! He was one of the 1st, along w/ Agassi who just tried to take the cover off the ball! :) :lol6:
I think it's a fair comparison, he even looks a bit like Courier and TBH Courier was no choir boy on the court either.

However, I think Brooksby has a better BH, it's not as much a relative liability as Courier's was. Like I said, at 6-4 he could develop more to his game , more punch so to speak. Courier is always trotted out as the poster child of burnout because of being over conditioned/ practice fiend, but who knows? That to me seems more a mental attribute/factor as opposed to just overtraining. I think of Courier more like he had a very effective but somewhat limited game, and once others figured it out he struggled a bit because he really had no Plan B. Sampras dominated him decisively once he got going.

Kokkinakis serving for the match, 5-4 in the 3rd over Schwartzman. EDIT: Kokkinakis won!

I see the Cerundolo brothers both got through today. They haven't done much, but seem to be interesting, particularly Juan Manuel, the younger, lefty one. He beat K. Anderson in 3, (who, it should be noted, was only in as a Lucky Loser...so that's a come down for him,) and Francisco to a let off as Opelka retired. Anyone have an opinion on them? Argentines get good support in Miami.

Agree,Nick so far is having a better year, than the Fog,he should be able to beat him in straight sets
Yes and my man Fognini serve is kind of trash. That doesn't help against Kyrgios on HC. Nick should win this easily considering the form. I actually picked him to win against Rublev and also Coric against Zverev but missed that one.

Coric played well, just 2 poor serving games, in the 1st and 3rd sets, cost him, considering that was his 2nd match back,he can take a lot of cofidence out of the match

Two Cerundolos in the draw? That's interesting. I've never seen any of them play. Was one of them having that headline story in RG a few years back when he entered as lucky loser and made few rounds, but he actually already traveled to another tournament and even played or something, but was called back to Paris and he arrived in last moment to participate in RG. Or was that another guy?

Thnx Margaret. Looks promising for him then, hope he can stay healthy and get back to at least top 30.

I think that story was Marco Trungelliti of Argentina, though Francisco did also get in as a LL last year. They mostly play challengers. I may be calling them to attention too soon. They tend to feature in Buenos Aires, so I've seen them play a time or two, and for some reason I think is is Juan Manuel who is good. He's only 20, and he's lefty. Who knows?

Aaah Trungelliti, yes yes. There is so many of these argentinian and south american players it's hard to distinguish them. Last one that made top 20 was Garin. Most of the others hang lower in rankings between 50-200. You often see their names in GS R1 entry list and keep wondering who is this guy.

(And believe me, I had to google it, but when you told that story, I remembered it. Grandmother in the car, etc.)

Had to go to bed with Tiafoe v Nakashima tied 2-2 in the 3rd, but woke up to see that Frances had pulled it off 6-4 in the 3rd. :pompoms:

Sad to hear, but thanks for telling me. The standards for the Villains list is pretty high, at the moment, but we could keep him in mind for dishonorable mention.
He gives Ryan Harrison vibes,he has an entitled air about him.He is different from Tommy Paul Korda or Opelka

Of the two, Nick is having the much better year, if you count the doubles. And I think Nick is ready to string together some matches. But it should definitely be a fun match.
I am expecting some fireworks because these two are very volatile

We'd that come from? Ryan Harrison? Haven't seen him in ages! Handsome, but no game that was going to hurt anyone; just a good, solid player! ;-)
He was always angry with his subpar tennis.
