ughhh.. I cant believe Fed lost today. I did not watch it but was checking the scores. I thought he will get it done in third after he won the second set with a Roar. Was he playing very bad ? or was it Nishikori

Even as a Fed fan I can unbiasedly say Fed played utter crap. All Nishikori needed to be was solid as Fed basically imploded after winning set 2. If you can imagine any match where he's won a set against Nadal and gone on to play a set where he can't hit a barn door from 50 yards and shanking more than a butcher you get a pretty clear picture. Embarrassingly bad 3rd set in particular. Nishikori hit a few nice shots but Fed really handed that win to him on a plate with a garnish of gunk.

That bad huh? What is really worrisome is his bad matches are coming every other match..someone please write him off in mendia and send him a copy.. this will probably light a fire under his belly

I've been hoping for that too since last Fall when it was already clear his game was in the tubes. Now, I'm not sure that's enough. Roger has suffered a lot of bad losses the past 9 months and there is no end in sight. I think it might take reading the newspaper and seeing his name below David frickin Ferrer in the rankings. If that isn't the ultimate kick to the mid section that gets Roger going then the end has truly arrived!

maybe his kids will say "daddy..why have you gone all rubbish." :s

You might be onto something here. Someone should bribe the kids with candy to put in some "good words" to daddy :D

Lying SOB!!!!

I would trade that one in for a functioning crystal ball...or I'd stop asking it to tell you what you want to hear, and listen to what it's really saying. :dodgy:

Awful. Dismal. Awful again. At 4-4 in the tiebreak I was ready for them to call it a draw and give Berdych a walkover. Glad Andy won but Berdych is winning their match later today.

Yeah, its going to be tough to recover that quickly from a three hour match. Still it's going quite well for Murray here on clay. He only went beyond the 3rd round here once.

Oh, not so fast, Miss Iona. It's late, and that was a tough match. But Murray's the better of the two, so we shall see.

I'll be delighted if my boy proves me wrong Moxie. He really does drive me insane sometimes but I do love him.

So stick with the man in the skirt...I mean kilt, sorry...who brought you to the dance. I know you do, but no reason to be downtrodden. Yet. I only watched the end, but Murray surely showed why he's #2, and Simon is now slouch, to be sure. Plus, he's the only other one of the Big 4 to get through. Apparently, it's a war of attrition for the top guys, and Andy is still in.

I love Murray, but he against Simon almost always makes for some dismal tennis.

I was thinking Tsonga v. Nadal would be fun. But I know you're hoping Nadal gets knocked out.

Ok then we will meet in the middle, Tsonga vs Nishikori ;)

If there's no No1e, anyone vs Nadal on clay is 100% one way and I don't think even Tsonga can help.

I think we will see a Nadal - Wawrinka final, and I'd like to see it too.

So can anybody explain me why I should enjoy a player like Ferrer? Apart from the inside out forehand, he's just bringing balls back. And it just doesn't look pretty either. He hits that backhand like a hunchback.

His game is not pretty, but the guy gives value for money in that he always gives it 200%. That's admirable in my opinion. He'll never win a beauty contest with his game, but he'll never have to wonder about what could have been if only he had tried harder.

Because someone has to say it, Nadal has been more or less rubbish this clay season by his lofty standards. The backhand this tournament is abysmal. And I laugh at the notion that he still moves as well.

Needs to pick it up quickly.

Nadal is not happy with the new rule. Actually I think he is not happy with his game and is just nervous.

I think Denisovich is a Federer man, no? There's a basic difference in taste between those that like their tennis pretty, and those that like it valiant. I don't see what's NOT to like about Ferrer's game.

Ferrer should be lauded by every tennis fan. He's maybe one of the best examples you could show a kid learning the game. His attitude is immense. If he had the talent and size of Tsonga or Berdych, we'd have a big 4+1, with Murray still the +1...

I'm a Federer man myself, actually. And on the womens side my gal used to be Hingis. So I like pretty. :) But I like 'unpretty' as well as long as it's good. And if it's a winning game it's a good game. ;)

A Federer man? And which players fall in that camp exactly? Djokovic? Nadal? Tsonga?

The valiant camp includes Ferrer and all other second tier Spanish players, Davydenko?

OK, those couple of points were pure genius by Nadal. Not sure why his cross court forehand has so little on it though.

Sure he should be lauded and padded on the back, but I just don't enjoy watching him. No incredible shots, just more of the same all the time.

Ferrer deserves all the respect in the world. But implying there's nothing to dislike about his game is a bit rich. Off the top of my head, I'd bring up his volleying skills (or lack thereof), suspect net positioning, and poor second serve.
