Andy won the second set 6-4

Andy is just about the only one left who can stop Rafa, right?

On clay apart from Rome 2011 where Murray played great I'd give Wawrinka a much better shot. Just hammered Murray last week and won a tournament.

Muzza has turned this match completely around. Apparently not ready to see the Rome airport yet. Up a break in 3rd 2-0.

Murray followed a great smash with a complete duff. This is a nail-biter. 30-30 at 5-5.

Why is Andy having issues here?
He is 10-1 against Giles.

Clay is Simon's strongest surface and Murray's weakest.

Tough loss for Simon...

Murray won three points more: 110 -107.

Awful. Dismal. Awful again. At 4-4 in the tiebreak I was ready for them to call it a draw and give Berdych a walkover. Glad Andy won but Berdych is winning their match later today.

Yeah, its going to be tough to recover that quickly from a three hour match. Still it's going quite well for Murray here on clay. He only went beyond the 3rd round here once.

Oh, not so fast, Miss Iona. It's late, and that was a tough match. But Murray's the better of the two, so we shall see.

Sorry, correction, he made the QF twice before. If he beats Berdych, best result so far.

Before tonight Andy had won their last 10 matches - including 3 on clay. This match was tougher than it should have been. Credit to Simon though.

^ Sure, but it's not that Simon is a nobody. He's a good clay court player, you would expect some resistance. I'm surprised Murray defeated him three times on clay, that's a good number.

I'll be delighted if my boy proves me wrong Moxie. He really does drive me insane sometimes but I do love him.

ughhh.. I cant believe Fed lost today. I did not watch it but was checking the scores. I thought he will get it done in third after he won the second set with a Roar. Was he playing very bad ? or was it Nishikori

Even as a Fed fan I can unbiasedly say Fed played utter crap. All Nishikori needed to be was solid as Fed basically imploded after winning set 2. If you can imagine any match where he's won a set against Nadal and gone on to play a set where he can't hit a barn door from 50 yards and shanking more than a butcher you get a pretty clear picture. Embarrassingly bad 3rd set in particular. Nishikori hit a few nice shots but Fed really handed that win to him on a plate with a garnish of gunk.

That bad huh? What is really worrisome is his bad matches are coming every other match..someone please write him off in mendia and send him a copy.. this will probably light a fire under his belly

I've been hoping for that too since last Fall when it was already clear his game was in the tubes. Now, I'm not sure that's enough. Roger has suffered a lot of bad losses the past 9 months and there is no end in sight. I think it might take reading the newspaper and seeing his name below David frickin Ferrer in the rankings. If that isn't the ultimate kick to the mid section that gets Roger going then the end has truly arrived!
