I think it would be very strange to have clay court wtf in the middle of hard court season. Perhaps they can move wtf to April, May or June to suit claycourters

I see that no one opened a thread about Big 3 and Murray talking about anti doping. I think it is quite big because Fed imputed some tennis players dope by insisting that the samples should be kept for years and that No1e dopes by saying he’s surprised there’s no one to collect samples every time he loses final. We know to whom he lost last 2 slam finals. I expect No1e to sanction this in the group with love and love. There’s no explanation yet how London managed to keep wtf despite Barclay’s cancelling sponsorship with atp. I am looking forward to the start tomorrow.

Two bagels would be nice. I don't think fed directed that towards Novak tho, it would be good if they check more. They have plenty of money.

This isn't the middle of any season, it's the end.  "Year-end Championships," remember?  Meaning it could be anything.  ;-)

Pretty big statement made.

KN had to retire from Bercy, and I don't think he's close to normal.  He won 12/28 of the first serves that went in.   Novak played well, and these slower courts help him a lot.

He is not exactly the one who needs to make a statement.

he is winning nearly 95 percent of his matches.

right now he has no rivals and no competition.

after the demolish-of-nish..  Djokovic claimed "today I think I was at my best"..

so that enhances even further the feeling that  a whole bunch of folk play a big tennis tourney, and at the end Djokovic lifts the winners trophy.

Only player who has a chance here against Djokovic is Federer.

you have to serve really big and pretty much go for broke.

and you have to do it in straights.

Federer has an advantage on Nole on fast surfaces (dubai and Cinci). This surface is a low bouncing relatively slow court. I'm not sure this type of surface favors Federer, even if he serves well because ball doesn't fly through the court. Whenever Djokovic has extra time, he is formidable. If Djokovic plays his top form, i think he beats a Federer in his top form, on his surface. I wouldn't say this on faster courts but this isn't a fast court.

I think wawrinka has the best chance to beating Djokovic here, Stan has the groundstrokes to hit through Nole on a slow court; he has proven it before at AO and FO. Obviously, a tough task...

Great starts for Nole and Roger.  Good matches for tomorrow as well, a little bit trickier to predict.

They have made the rest realize their chops on indoor hards.  Probably the men to beat.

Nole has 1 indoor loss in 2012 (Paris, to Querrey) and since then he has 3 wins in Paris and 3 wins in London.  I think that his scheduling is very smart (doesn't play more than these), still I think that is an amazing record considering these are 2 of the big tournaments.

I don't think you have to convince anyone.  What he's doing at the moment is absolutely dominant and amazing.  Especially Paris, which has been a bit of a bone-yard in the recent past.  Think of how long it took Roger to win it.  Djokovic certainly is Superman, at the moment.  Must be the pizza-free zone.

Rafa played well, but Stan was really out of sorts.  He seemed to be tanking a good deal of the time.  Couldn't seem to move his feet, and didn't seem much to care, starting right at 5-3, 30-15 with Nadal serving for the first set.

I hurried home from work and when I turned my TV on, the match between Rafa and Stan was over.  I'll trust your judgement about the match, it is still a very good win against a potentially tough opponent.

Andy won in 2 as well, it will be a nice match between these two on Wednesday.

I'll probably miss most of Nole vs Fed match darn it.

This one looked to be the first tight match of the tournament.  I'd like to put it down to Rafa's great play, but there was something wrong with Stan, whether it was physical or emotional/motivational.  35 UFEs in 2 sets, and his 2nd serve pct. was somewhere in the 30s.  In any case, though, yes, great for Rafa's confidence.
