Not sure why everyone's so down on the tournament. I think it's been good. Yes sure, Rafa's missing, but it's just an opportunity to open our eyes to the young talents out there. I've enjoyed watching the usual suspects and newer guys like Dimi, Thiem etc...

I've enjoyed a lot of the tennis too.

Best of all I like the machinations of the Feddies figuring out everyone who has to lose for Roger to have a chance. :snigger.

Obviously it's a tough match against Novak but pretty even if the Wimbledon final is anything to go by. Other than that to be honest the only match I'd say is a very tough one for Roger on paper is a potential match against Berdych. I'd feel confident backing him to beat the rest out there.

While I would agree with your view in general, this year I am more worried about Monfils
than any one else in Fed's half. But, I must admit that I have not seen a Bird match so far.

To be honest, I'm a bit uncomfortable with Fed night matches during the week. I have to go to sleep because of work! I remember waking up last year to find out that Roger had been schooled by Robredo. Not what you want to wake up to in the morning! :(

Forgot about Monfils. Yeah, add him also. Seems he's finally stopped clowning around and started to bring it. Good to see him injury free for quite some time too.

I'll admit that if Roger loses to anyone in this tournament (given the way it's set up) whose initials aren't N.D I'll be devastated.

Yeah, likewise although it could still happen if he plays poorly like the first set against Granola. N.D. if he loses will in that case be Nobody Decent.

I'm not so worried about Berdych to be honest. I think that Roger has problems with him when his movement is suspect. He seems to be flowing right now. It's Dimi and le Monf that most concern me in his half. I just can't see him losing to Agut tonight. Unless he's a Canas type retriever, which I don't think he is, but I've only watched him a few times. As an aside, I find him a bit irritating. Always seems to have on court issues with whoever he's playing. I've watched him 2 or 3 times and each time there's been a problem

Baby is not yet ready to backstab the Dad. I am not worried about that at all. Baby can be
schooled.

Fed is 0-0 against RBA, 1-0 against baby, 7-2 against clown and 12-6 against bird. But,
bird is on the decline this year.

Berdych is having a nice tournament here. Hoping he peaks with Fed on the other side of the net!

I'm picking out this post to give a shout-out to Le Monf. I think he's really focussing, and playing very well. Remember he has yet to drop a set. Great to see him so committed. He says he loves the Open, as well he should. And he'll love the big stage on Ashe.

Most of those wins vs. Berd are from prime Fed. From 2010 on it's probably about 5-5 with Bird demolishing him at Wimbledon and USO. But Roger is looking better and there are some debts to be paid next time they face off at a slam :emperor:

True. But Berdy does have a radar for picking off Fed in the big moments.

Not happening this time, Roger won't phuck this up. Roger was a lame duck in 2010 Wimbledon and the whole year after AO, the 2012 one was a shock and probably kept Roger from winning that tournament. Roger will step up, also not sure Berd will beat Cilic.

I love your new optimism, Darth, and not unjustified. But why was Roger a 'lame duck' in the 2010 Wimbledon? What does that even mean? He was the "defending champion," win the normal parlance. And what was the shock in 2012 that kept Roger from winning…what? Do clarify.
