Elena is bidding to win her 5th title and her second on clay. Elena won her first WTA title on clay in Bucharest in 2019. A victory would give her a second WTA1000 title this season, which would lead the tour. If Elena wins the title she will rise to No 4, earn a Top 4 seed at Roland Garros. ( she has assured herself a Top 5 debut on Monday ).

Kalinina is bidding to win her first WTA title, her breakthrough came in Budapest in 2021, both runs have been on clay courts.Ranked No 47, Kalinina could become the lowest ranked player to win in Rome ( since Reggi in 1985).Making the final, she is assured of a new career high ranking on Monday, she will rise to No 13 with the title and No 15 as runner up.

They were also flat in the Madrid final as well, I hope they do not play RG doubles, only play doubles together, say for a tune up
