I'll have to watch some YouTube vids of Rafa playing great because it's been so long, I've forgotten what it looks like...

I was going to post the highlights of the Coria-Nadal 2005 final, anyway. Look for it on the video thread. :)

mr Federer was pretty close to winning :( as the match point winning shot was falling and about to bounce for a second time when.:s rafa spends nearly 3hrs 20mins farting around with simon..

and andy murray won a tennis match on clay. vamos. :)

Coria wasn't the most liked guy on tennis Forums either, but I have to admit I liked the way he played.

Me, too. I really think he was the last great clay-courter before Rafa. He wasn't easy for people to like, but he was a wizard on clay.

I really think Rafa has NO CHANCE of winning this!

But then I am known to be wrong....

Oh, come on. Jurgen Melzer has NO CHANCE of winning this. Rafa must have at least a decent one. And count him out at your peril. ;)

Very shocked to see that Federer lost. Conditions probably didn't help, either. Anyone tried playing tennis in the wind? Ugh. I don't think this'll impact him much. I can see Federer going into the second week at RG -- minus a few hiccups here and there this year, his form has largely been good.

Also surprised to see Nadal's match go 3. Didn't see the match, but judging from the scoreline, I assume his form is a still a bit so-so? This is unless Simon played out of his element and that doesn't happen all too often.

Some good tennis on tonight. Stan/Haas should be good, and I wonder if the colonel will trouble Nadal?

Nah,actually Rafa is playing better, today against the world's ultimate pusher , Rafa was able to finally tune all his arsenal of strokes but his serve still needs vast improvement

Simon hasn't got a hair out of place, the fecker!

I always love Rafa's effort, even when he's playing crap, he's so honest and hardworking...

Sounds like Ralph is the type of guy you would like to have as a son in law

I dunno what it is I'm supposed to have said but you might be mistaking me for someone else if you think I wrote Rafa off as the winner here. He's my pick in the challenge and I stick with that. I was impressed with Simon and how he dug it out in the second set, but I was more impressed with Rafa and how he responded in the third...

Stan/Tommy split sets and we're heading for the decider. Some superb shotmaking in this match.

JWT is such a case. He was up 5-2 in the first set breaker on Milos. Proceeds to drop 5 points in a row and lose the breaker.

Tommy gets the break at 4-3 and will serve for the match.

Big dog Tommy serves out the match like champ and sends the AO winner home. Bye Bye Stan. Tommy has not been in the QF of Rome for 12 years. Well done! :clap

One good return from Milos and one double fault from Tsonga and Milos get the first set TB.

Milos is 0-2 vs. Tsonga. I hope he manages to score his first win over Jo. Major opportunity in this section of the draw with Roger going back to diaper duties.

This is why Haas is such a legend. Even at 36 is the man capable of huge upsets. I remember he knocked off Djokovic last year at Miami. I can't see this guy stopping -- still a joy to watch.

Poor stuff from Stan, overall, and certainly an uneven way to head into RG, but well done, Haas.

Stan vs. Rafa II (well, it's more like 12 but that's a technicality) is not meant to happen...

Well done by Milos. Have not seen the match, but I like the result:
7-6, 6-4 against JWT.
