I know this isn't a video thread but I think this clip is too cute not to share on here.

Sharapova picks out Murray's picture and then says, "He still has the same attitude on the court." :nono

'I think she should focus on trying to get to the quarters of a major tournament'...drops mic

Funny scheduling for tomorrow. They have scheduled the four 4th round matches
from the top half of the draw and then tacked on Novak vs. Cilic for the night session.
It appears as though they felt none of the four top-half matches are not good enough
for a night session prime event.

Right, I'd like to watch Isner v Lu about as much as I'd like to saw my nuts off with a rusty breadknife, sprinkle on some salt and then jump into a vat of acid so I bid thee farewell masochists :D Cheers.

The lone American is the highest seeded opponent that Novak has left in his half of the draw
at this time.

Can I state for the record it's been great seeing matches that are fun to watch that don't have one (or more of the big four in them?

I second that. Sure is.

I personally never been fixated on the Big 4, like watching random matches. These two I find very appealing for different reason, but both of them have their stocks going up these days.

Milos has a winning record against Andy and Andy is playing very poorly at this time.
We may see an exit of Andy tomorrow.

I heard that Dog has parted ways with Fabrice Santoro (they only started together
this year) and is now exclusively being coached by his dad.

He says, he finds it difficult to find a coach as his game is quite unorthodox.
Every coach wants him to play the game the way coach would play. He wants
some one to help him better himself without changing his style of play. I can
only sympathize with his point of view.

For sure, it would be difficult for him to find a good coach.

The problem with Gulbis is it's only a matter of time after flashes of brilliance like this that you don't hear from him again for half a year. Or more.

We'll see. Is this Gulbis 2.0? I actually think so, plus he's working with Ljulbicic, who is a wise and calm man. Could be a good influence.

But how many times -- HOW MANY TIMES?! ( ;) ) -- have we thought we've seen Gulbis 2.0, only to realize we've seen another mirage?

This result, R4 has been achieved by him also last year, when he lost then to Rafa. But this time he is ranked at about as high as he has been, and his year thus far has been the best start he had ever.
I am more optimistic for him than ever before.
Even a steady top 20 will be a lot more than his past.

Wow! Well done, Ernie! Interesting match.

Grigor choked. He retreated into his shell thinking Gulbis would blink first. I thought his intensity dropped
dramatically in the third set, especially at the tail end.

I see we have the same very effeminate umpire again for Benneteau v Thiem.

Edit: let me rephrase. Effeminate sounding. Haven't seen what he looks like but sure sounds like a woman.

He is actually a very good umpire.

[Ugh! These relentless BNP Paribas commercials on the Tennis Channel are driving me insane!]

The repetitive commercials on TC would drive me into an uncontrollable homicidal rage except for the fact I scroll through on the DVR.

Well played Ernie, Good job!
I mentioned the other day, I wanted both of them to go deeper, but one had to win it. And this time it was Gulbis who prevailed, unlike a few ago.

Sitting courtside for Ernie watching him obliterate Sousa, I could not believe how he was pulverizing his serve. His backhand was an absolute howitzer. The funky forehand was even finding the lines.

I picked him to win today's match.

I was getting annoyed by Jim Courier constantly making negative comments about GD's physique. Having seen him up close practicing he is a healthy boy. He has a ways to go, but he is not "slight".

I did think this. Grigor felt the moment too much. He's buying his own hype. He got very tentative, whereas this is unlikely to happen with Gulbis, who does go big or go home. Anyway, it won him the match, and holding back lost it for Grigor.

Both guys were feeling the pressure. Gulbis was netting or missing easy shots when he had chances to take service games from Dimitrov earlier in the third set. The last one, he played controlled and didn't pull the trigger until he had the shot. Was Greg tentative? Somewhat. Was he being put on his heels by Gulbis's shots? Definitely.

This one felt like a changing-of-the-guard to me. I can't think of the last time that we were all watching and commenting so enthusiastically, live-action, about a match that didn't involved the Big 4…and that it really felt like it mattered, in the long run.
