Well, Novak has played better than the previous matches (his strong ego has helped him) and Nadal worse and worse in the second set and I don't think he left the court very happy but he only has to blame himself. If Raonic plays WELL tomorrow will win, it has been enough how much good luck Novak has had during the whole tournament

What good luck has he had? He spent a lot of this match serving into the sun.

You'll have the thread to yourself... :devil

Considering the snarky comments, I am not sure why I even bother posting?
:puzzled

I'm only teasing you :hug but this isn't an appetising match for many reasons, but if Raonic steps up and wins the first set, I'll definitely tune in. It's a great opportunity for him, that's how he has to see it...

Quite a lot of that match was really fun to watch. I know some people are desperate for some young guns to break through, but as a huge fan of all of the Big Four, I think it says a lot that a highly declined Rafa playing a not-at-his-sharpest Novak was still the most entertaining match of the tournament. Even a half-decent Big Four match is still better than anything anyone else can offer, IMO. These guys are freaking good, and we are going to miss them when they're gone.

Racking my brain trying to think of any other big serving giant that you like, herios. If he didn't represent Canada, I doubt very much that you would be a fan.

A lot of debate on tennis.com earlier as people claim he speaks Serbian mostly and swears in Serbian and is Canadian in terms of citizenship only though he's lived most of his life there.

Apart from the 5-4 game in the first set, he hadn't really been a factor in Novaks service games since the first one. Nole is commanding and controlling the match from that position. Rafa isn't holding anywhere near as well. It's a good performance from a matchplay perspective by the world #1...

Didn't check stat, just felt Rafa serve is at least as effective as Nole's. Both had few ace, but Rafa might have more unreturned serve. What really separate their service game is the follow-up shot. Nole one-two punch much better.

He lives in Monaco now. If that little principality could claim the tennis players that live there for their Davis Cup team, they may never lose. Side note, I thought the official language of Montenegro was Montenegrin. :p

I think most of the improvement was to do with the slow court to be honest. Miami is similarly slow or has been in the past. Hard place for Roger to come back too but I guess he wants to try and wrestle back the number 2 position. The real gauge of form will be European clay season imo. The slower court and high bounce suited Rafa's game here much more than Novak's.

Loosing the first set was so crucial for Rafa. I knew Rafa's cc fh to Djokovic bh was gonna be the deciding factor. I am proud the way Rafa competes. Congratulations to Djokovic

Maybe the two languages are similar or else maybe some Serbians are trying to claim him as another one of their own due to his success. I've no idea :p

Ugh, Rafa in this second set is beaten himself but it's ok, I think Miami is waiting for him but this time I don't think the trophy is going to go out of his hands

I still have nightmares about the 2014 Miami final , I sat in the front row of that stadium and felt like I witnessed a total annihilation of Rafa by Djoker.

Carol dear, Milos is the second best player of the season. He just surpassed Andy Murray in the live ranking today.

It is all positive for Rafa. His best match this year, even since RG14. I was impressed by
1. His serve. From a liability to weapon. Few aces, but many unreturned serve.
2. Depth of his shot. Still offer short balls, but not from neutral position.
3. His movement. What a amazing change from first game against Muller.
I have been so spoiled by the consistency of big3 that only followed their match from quarter. Rafa forced me to follow from early rounds. I just got a sense he will be Stan like, it won't be surprise that he can go out in first round in one and lift the trophy in final match the next.

Wow. Why? Is he not smart enough? Is it talent? Is it endurance? Is it strength? Is it courage? Why does he have to play like a tired cu%t every time. I cringe when some of you said that he is improving. Are you mad? Improving for what? So he can consistently reach masters QF and semis. I refuse to watch this Nadal getting crushed. He has become like Berdych. He is used to losing and bending over to the top guys. Ballbash, try something else, just don't expect your opponent to falter you useless moron. It's a parody really.

Trust me PM, he has improved from this past Dec to now. Yes Rafa didnt win a set but the score isnt reflective of the level of competitive points or the high quality of the match. I know being a Rafa fan baby steps are hard to accept but its is a beginning. Novak stated that the first set was decided by a few points and the 2nd set had 2 or 3 service games of over 6 to 7 mins. RELAX, go rent my favorite movie Highlander.

Patience, Highlander. You have done well. But it will take time. There are generations being born and dying. You're at one with all living things. Each man's thoughts and dreams are yours to know. You have power beyond imagination. Use it well my friend. Don't lose your head

Lets lace them up and compete next time my friend. Vamos:clap
