Looks like these days, we tennis fans, spend more time on off court news (match fixing, Pova doping, Murray's baby, Fed's op etc). So, IW will be a good change to let us get back to tennis again.
But, my interest is obviously less as RF is not in there. I will watch probably only SF and F and that too only if the match-ups are interesting.

I feel the sam GSnM, and actually that has me thinking what will I do when RF retires..will I follow tennis as religiously as I do now .. I dont know

I would recommend doing what I'm doing: get interested in the young guys. No one can ever replace Roger, but there are some exciting young players coming up - more so than we've seen in five+ years. Check out my last couple blog entires, especially the last one, for some names to look for.

Who knows, maybe you'll connect with one of the young dudes and find you next favorite player.

No matter how great one athlete is, as time goes on, they will be replaced at the top and new generation will take charge.
You as a fan, might lose interest for a while, but if you ever loved the sport, in the end you will find new faces to root for.
I am older than many here and I saw 4+ decades of the sports I followed.
I liked many players through the generations and I always found someone else to cheer for.

Back to IW, I am very interested to see tonight how Fritz measures up to Tiafoe.
Frances was the one who 2-3 years ago was winning their matches when they were young boys, but know Taylor has leapfrogged Frances, who has not advanced almost at all this year, while Taylor gained about 100 ranking spots.

I am more impressed with Fritz than Tiafoe, but it isn't entirely fair to say that Frances hasn't advanced much lately. He only reached the top 200 back in November, after having risen quickly through the low rankings. Since then he's stagnated, but he's only played a few tournaments.

His results this year haven't been great (he lost to Ryan Harrison!), but there are also some good signs: for instance, he beat #77 Sam Groth.

Getting from the 101-200 range into the top 100 is rather difficult, and a big stepping stone. If he doesn't get there this year, he'll do it next. Remember, he just turned 18 in January.

I know all of that. Frances reached his highest ranking in December 2015, at #176 and now he is ranked #177.
Back in December, Taylor was ranked #174 and now he is at #80.
Yes, it is only 2 months but there is quite a difference between the 2 players during this timeframe.

Yes, of course. My point was merely that Tiafoe's "stagnation" isn't anything to be worried about...yet. Another thing to remember is that he's also 10 months younger than Fritz - so he's the same age Taylor was last May or so, when Taylor was in the 700-800s.

This also points out just how meteoric Taylor's rise has been. I almost think the best thing for him right now is to draw Novak in the first round of Roland Garros, so he understands just how far he still has to go.

You are wrong there. Taylor turned 18 in October, so he is 3 months older than Frances.

Maybe Tiafoe needs to try Djokovic gutten free diet if he wants to "enhance his performance"

I made some adjustments. You should be OK now. Let me know if there's still a problem.

Dimitrov is pretty crap and that nickname he got is an insult to Federer.
