What in the world is happening in tennis; esp. with the ladies! Kerber out winning just 2 games, resurgence of Venus, and Pliskova out when supposedly vying for #1! The men are just about as screwed up; the seniors taking out the next gen with so many out with injuries! :nono: :cuckoo:

Chris is suffering from old age. Off the top of my head, Venus has had knee tendonitis, strained abdominal, wrist, hamstring and back issues.

But in a way K, those are normal tennis injuries, not like a bum knee which has been slowing down Rafa all his life.
Or a total wear-out which happened to Bartoli.
Chris Evert was one of few herself who had a fairly injury free tennis career.

In a way, Serena has been injured more than Venus, or it seems like that to me.

It's all about body type and training. We don't know how Serena trains, but her body type has put her at more risk for injuries. Not all of those are normal tennis injuries. Ab strain and back issues are not normal. Nothing can be done to remedy the ab strain but rest. Can't take a pill or get a shot to fix that one.

Nobody chiming in tonight. I watched the Vee vs. Kas match tonight. It was high quality drama from beginning to end.
IW final may end up being a battle of 20 yr olds.

Get used to these two youngsters. Smiling, calm, well playing, tactically superb and both positive and nice - we need that sort of role models

Here Kasatkina is helping Naomi to learn the tweener

A bagel for Halep

Kasatkina wins a maraton

Kasatkina turning in to a really good player move really well, and her attack game is good as well.

She had plenty of chances to foil last night, held her nerves and wore Venus down, the entire crowd was cheering Venus too.
I saw most of the match, it was really really entertaining.
Couldn't help it but feel sorry for V
She is a GREAT champion, doing this against people half her age.

I do like this upcoming brawl of 20 year olds .

Gotta go with Osaka, look what she did to #1!

But at this point, I would not bet money or anything else on the final, a roll of dice!

I think Dasha takes this one.

Osaka is more of a flat baller. With windy conditions, the spins of Dasha will be working much better.

It will be close no matter who wins, but I'll give the edge to Naomi. She hasn't won a title yet, seems really hungry and I think Sascha being in her ear has really pushed her to the next level we're seeing.

The match started close, but after 4-5 games Osaka started pulling away, took first set 6-3
She certainly has more firepower and more important, fresh legs, Kasa seems worn out after epic match with Venus.

Up a break in the second, Naomi should raise her first big trophy soon.

Wonder who made the decision in the USTA not to put more funding and time into Osaka.
