what did she say...i tuned off..:snicker

She began her presser by wanted to say how proud she was of Serena for coming back to IW.. She said Serena was her inspiration and motivation to work on her game, trying to over coming her setbacks and that Venus showing up at IW shows that they werre the two greatest ambassors of the tennis. She said that she very emotional because she knows that it was so tough and emotional for both Serena and Venus to come back to play at IW. She siad it was very hard for her to control her emotions and she didnt blame the crowd for rooting and supporting Serena because she was too.

Thanks for reporting this, AP! Azarenka did well with the press, especially considering the various factors in play. I have to say I'm pleasantly surprised.

I think Serena is going through a bad case of finalitis, ever since the USO SF loss, which has contributed to her losses in Melbourne and now Indian Wells.

She needs to get her championship confidence back, and I know she will. It will just take a little more time. Perhaps a change of location and surface will help, when she gets on the European red clay.

Its tough but I imagine we'll see Serena back in the finals of her favorite and home tournament next week in Miami and usually she uses losses as motivation.

I agree. I think the loss at the USO really is taking its toll. I see 2 problems: One is definitely mental. The other is she's not moving her feet. She's literally walking into most of these shots or reaching for the ball. Sometimes they go in because of sheer power (she muscles the ball), but most of the time it results in an error. I haven't seen Mackie around lately and he really needs to be in order to get her footwork straightened out.

If she straightened out her footwook, she would play better which will create a tournament win and give her the confidence to overcome the mental block. All that being said, it will be a long road to reach 22. She's not making this easy at all.

KSKATE2...you nailed it..that loss really depleted her and seems to have no interest and her woes are tied up to that semis loss in 2015..this is all about Serena not other players...like she becomes very tight in a final..

I don't think she isn't interested. I think we have to look at the two finals in context. The first was the AO and a chance to tie Graf which was pressure in and of itself. The other final was a tournament that she hadn't been in the final of in 15 years. Having said that if she doesn't win in Miami, she might want to try Charleston to try and get on the scoreboard and get some confidence.

Yes, I am not alarmed by Serena not winning AO or IW titles. There are legitimate excuses for both. In AO it is pressure of equaling Steffi. In IW, one could attribute to relieving old memory of finals there. I am sure, she would come back.

But, I am alarmed by her new hair style :nono

I am glad the next tournament Serena plays is the one in her backyard. That will help her feel calmer. I want to see her build momentum going into FO.

why is the media making it look like that man was attacking Serena, she has been the biggest draw in women tennis in a long time. That man disrespected everyone except Roger and Nadal...Joko should sit his behind down because that man also disrespected him too..

There's also the context that often after Serena's biggest and best years she kind of has a less stellar year the next. There's a bit of a rise and fall. Still a fall for Serena is ONLY winning 1 or 2 slams. I think she'll be fine.

Well Serena has developed into one of the better clay courters since 2012, so I like where she stands going into clay season. She has won a clay title every year since 2012, but she does need to cut down on the errors. She is going for too much at the wrong time. Trust me I wanted to see her get more aggressive and end points quicker, but not at the expense of more errors.

you know the media can be mischevious...they pinned Serena on pova and said she was supporting the dopa.In this case the media wants to make it look like its about the sisters....remember the tournament director from Dubai also criticized the women that played there.Venus and Serena have always spoken up about injustice in their sport but the other players throw them under the bus..2001-2003 was all about the sisters and I remember that Pete Sampras was angry that they focused on the sisters. The sisters contributed a lot to women tennis, women tennis was played during primetime because of the sisters.Last years final was sold out because of Serena...
I saw the video were they were asking the players who owns part of a football team, the look on the players faces said a lot...Djoko pretended not to know it was Kerber who finally said Serena but the rest of them pretended not to know.
Well Good riddance to the boer..
