Am I the only one who isn't completely outraged? It wasn't the best thing to do and he should have handled it differently. Aside from that, I don't care enough.

Yes. It's huge in determining his character!!

Also, he's living in tax haven Monaco instead of helping out his adoptive country Canada. I dislike when players do that!!
Djmm, if we determined everyone's character by a single mistake they made in the heat of a battle, we would not find a person of character anymore. If there was a pattern, I would understand, but there is no pattern. Just one bad judgement call...

Exactly.

Also, this is where the difference between doping and not calling yourself lies.
Not calling yourself is a decision that one makes in the heat of the battle.
On the other hand doping is a decision that is made in a cold blooded manner
before the battle begins.

It's all cheating to me. Anything that gives you a point you didn't earn, or in the case of doping an unfair advantage over your opponents is cheating.

In fairness, a spontaneous cheat like Raonic isn't comparable to doping. They're birds of a different feather and rightly are treated as such. Raonic's act was more stupid than anything and I'm sure he regrets it, but it isn't like players lurking in the dark rooms with a needle and a sinister drug program to follow...

No, they are not all the same. The difference is like the difference between murder
in the first degree, murder in the second degree etc.

I was never a fan of Raonic.. for some reason, I didn't like him..and now there is no chance that I will ever get on the Raonic bandwaggon..
Although, if "He dumps his next match against del Potro, after carrying DP's bag on court", I might get back to my don't care attitude for him :D

No. They're not all the same which is why they have degrees of consequences. But in the end, it's still murder isn't it? I mean in your scenario someone ultimately dies. In my case, it's still cheating, but judged at a different consequence level.

There's a difference! One is opportunistic and once-off, and the other is systematic and cynical. We can't compare what Raonic did to doping...

Then we'll have to disagree. Both are forms of cheating to me.

They're forms of cheating but they don't carry the same weight. It's like a guy burgles a house and another guy picks a fiver up off the floor in a pub, knowing well who dropped it.

They're both theft, but I think the difference is obvious. One is spontaneous and possibly out of character and the other is determined, plotted in advance and objectively out to harm others...

I never said they were the same guys. In my previous post I say that there are degress of consequence based on the degree/severity of cheating.
