I've just watched a DVD on the Mallard. It was fascinating. (This post belongs here because I'm talking about the steam train called the Mallard & not the duck.) It was a 1938, Sir Nigel Gresley A4 pacific design with the number 4468 & it broke the speed record for the fastest train at the time by going at 126 m.p.h.

I watched A history of Britain by Simon Schama earlier.

How was it? I’ve seen his series “The Power of Art” which was excellent.
It's very interesting. (I was watching with a purpose in mind. I'd just finished both watching & reading "A history of ancient Britain" by Neil Oliver & cross-referencing the equine history bits for my equine history report & evidencing man's relationship with the horse through time as I've been told to use all the resources I have except my own head to write this report. I've got lots of history & horse books & DVDs then I've got to use internet resources too. *The not being allowed to use my own head bit was very hard as I felt tempted to just write what I know about equine history. I've also felt tempted by fact-checking what was written by what I already know rather than cross-referencing it but I'm not allowed. I'd have finished it all by now if I could have just used my head instead. All I got off my Manager was this wasn't a test but a research & writing project. I have learnt a lot in the process & enjoyed doing most of it though. I've been told they're going to print it out when I've finished it. I also got told they expect it to take years though I think I'm almost done but keep finding little bits to add to it.)

I love "The Power of Art" too. He's a very good & informative presenter.
