he said he was "not consistent enough". that and the back issue are hampering him.

I think he has some time to fix this.

u.s. open is 31 days away.

and I have a feeling that he will be ok after a few days of rest. so we will probably see him in montreal.

"Fixing" things ain't easy. As athletes age, injuries could be more frequent and recovery time takes longer. That is a biological trend one cannot overcome.
There are 9 days before Montreal kicks off. Will that be enough?

Personally I'd rather see him do well at Cincy where's he defending and if he needs to skip Montreal so be it. No point playing if not close to 100% as his game is a shambles already without even taking the back into consideration, although to be fair to him that's quite possibly a large contributing factor to how poor he's been of late also.

Seems to be a trend that must annoy Roger. Lately the guys who've recently beaten him lost right away in their next match. Stakhovsky is on a 4 match losing streak.

I missed the very end of the match (had to leave for work). When I turned off the TV, Monaco was up 4-1 (two mini breaks) and was serving in the 3rd set tiebreak. I assumed Monaco was gonna win. What happened? Did he completely fall apart?

Regardless...GO YOUZHNY!!!

The only thing this really shows is that Roger isn't losing to any good players mostly because he can't even reach them in a tournament.

Good point yup. And sadly if he's doing this badly and is lucky enough to actually play a top ranked player at Flushing Meadows he'll be annihilated.

I haven't seen it, but the article on ATP says Misha saved 3 MP. It had to be a cracker of a match.

Now is the right time to make the racket change. There is no one in the top 50 using 90 sq inches. There will be some rocky roads during the adjustment period for sure. Sampras went on record saying he wished he had done the same...I still say the 2002 Open was the luckiest slam win ever.

At least Roger won't have to regret never having made a change. He won't sit around years from now, and wonder, "What would have happened if I had changed racquets?"

Welcome to Tennis Frontier, Luxilon Borg!

Thank you kind sir...yes, I think Sampras made it clear he DID regret not trying a new frame around 99 or 2000.

These guys are called "stoppers" according to Jimmy Connors.

Youzhny - Hanescu 6-3, 6-3

Good job by Misha, according to the commentators, he played great. I saw the last 2 games and he won them both, and served 2 aces in his last serving game.

Second SF between Felo Lopez and Haase.

Clay is not Felo's best surface:)
Haase enters into this final with a 0-4 record against Misha, who could be clinching tomorrow his 9 title.

It's true about Deliciano and clay. He's rather the "least Spanish" of all the Spanish players in terms of style and surface preference. I'm going with I. Haychew's man, Youzny, then.

Yeah he prefers grass to clay 'cos all the sliding ruins his hair ;) He should ask Verdasco which hair gel he uses. His hair was an inanimate work of art after that 5 set match against Murray at Wimbledon  Stats of the match weren't just his great serving but his hair not moving at all the whole match

TBH, I didn't take Lopez seriously for years, just because he's a little too good-looking. But to his credit, he takes himself seriously. He's #29 and has been as high as #15. (He's 31 years old, btw.) His game is solid serve, and he's not afraid to move in for the volley. And he's a lefty. He's very good on grass, and mostly a HC-er. As I said, not a classic Spaniard.

Yeah a very underrated player really, apart from by the ladies naturally. Great serve and net play alright. Hopefully he'll do well in hardcourt season.

Youzhny wins, beating Haase 6-3, 6-4.

Congrats to Youzhny!

(Haychew -- one down, two to go.)
