Why do tournaments insist on giving Roger cows? Perhaps he'll swap this one for some magic beans. ;)

I think most of the Europeans are sticking close to home while they can because when they leave for the US, they will be gone min 5 weeks. Also the lower ranked players see an opportunity to win a tournament because the top players don't historically play anything after Wimby but the 2 master HC.

Andy is already in the US (Miami) training.

He lost Hamburg so they cheered him up with a giant hamburger  I'm sure he'll find a nice place for her somewhere near the Swiss Alps with other friends.

Thanks Iona. I was mainly referring to the lower ranked Euro's. :) Are you still recovering from Andy's win?

I read about andres gomez and of course I have seen some highlights of his RG win.

delbonis does look a little bit like him in that picture.

Thanks Clay Death!

Yes, I saw Gomez play in person many times too...

Now is the right time to make the racket change. There is no one in the top 50 using 90 sq inches. There will be some rocky roads during the adjustment period for sure. Sampras went on record saying he wished he had done the same...I still say the 2002 Open was the luckiest slam win ever.

At least Roger won't have to regret never having made a change. He won't sit around years from now, and wonder, "What would have happened if I had changed racquets?"

Welcome to Tennis Frontier, Luxilon Borg!

Oops sorry Kskate2. I think I only read the first sentence properly.

Still on a high to be honest. I was worried Andy would never win Wimbledon. Now I can enjoy the slams a lot more. Andy has said the pressure is now off. The 1st slam has been won. He is now the Wimbledon champion. I think he'll really enjoy his tennis now.

I'm really looking forwards to the hard courts.

sigh of relieve by Roger. now that Schmendrick and Delbonis are out, his path is finally free, and Roger will go into RG '09 survival mode for the win! ;)

Looking forward to watching Roger against Daniel Brands later. Brands is very entertaining to watch and having just recently taken a set off him it's gonna be no walk in the park and actually a win for Brands wouldn't surprise me in the slightest. Hoping Roger pulls out the win naturally though.

Far too much slop from Roger. Way too many errors out of nowhere.

Here we go again. Stakhovsky, Delbonis and maybe Brands?

Just turned it on. Fed down a break in the opener 3-5. Brands to serve for the set.

holy canoly, just checked the score. this is ridiculous. i know he's dropped a set to Brands before, but that was closer.

it's kind of frustrating, and a loss will be disappointing for the swiss crowd, but at this point, it's almost to be expected. of course, his game deteriorating instead of improving as he spends more time with the new racquet can't exactly help the mindset.

Don't see why not. I mean he's doing everything possible to help them. Dumps serve more no apparent reason. Brands didn't have to do anything special at all to get that break. It's getting very disappointing to watch Fed these days. If he's being fiercely challenged and drops serve as the opponent wins the points fair enough. But that wasn't the case here. He hit every shot long or wide there to lose serve and Brands was just pushing routine balls over the net.

weirdest thing is looking at the stats - Fed made 10/11 points on first serve, and still 4/8 on his seconds (58 1st srv percentage). so it's just that Brands got to take opportunity of his lone break point, while Fed didn't convert on either of his two.

of course, that's hardly consolation.

the question is - can he expect another crumble by Brands to bail him out? i don't think so. Roger beat him in front of his home crowd, on his birthday, then took out his Landsmann Mayer, only to lose to a 'no-name' (no disrespect to Delbonis) a couple of days later - if Dan isn't hungry for revenge now, when would he ever be? and by now he should've realized that it really isn't that hard to do.

and Brands breaks to open the second. i hope the poor swiss kids are averting their eyes.

Can barely watch. Fed is pathetic these days. Routine volleys into the net with the whole court wide open and dumps serve immediately to open set 2. I'm not putting that down to the new racquet either as his volleying was very suspect for quite some time.

Last FH miss by Fed was around 2 metres long :(

He finally holds to avoid going down a double break 2-1 Brands
