So Fed makes his first Roland Garros semifinal since 2012. SEVEN years. 3 not played. But still. That's a long layoff. Obviously his longest semifinal drought anywhere. Again. That's partially on him for not playing for 3 years. But you can hardly blame him. I mean, I still don't love that he skipped them. But maybe he wouldn't still be playing if he hadn't skipped the clay for 3 years.

Good win for him. We get the match we all love to see. We probably know the outcome. But, the match has to be played. Hopefully his wins against Nadal of late will give him some confidence and he'll be able to get a set. Or maybe he can push Nadal to 5 for the first time here. With Nadal's form though, it is hard to see him winning it.

If Federer even comes close to making this a contests; what would that say about Nadal who's supposedly been playing "lights out?" I'd love to see Djokovic & Federer in the FINAL, but that's a big ask just to contest yet one more time for a Major Champ.! :yesyes:

Roger is playing OK, other than the break points. OK is of course not going to cut it against Rafa but Rafa also has not beaten him in like 4-5 years or something. It may or may not mean much on the clay of RG but Roger is playing with house money at this point. Just go out there, play your game.

If Federer beats Nadal (independent of whether he goes on to win RG), Nadalites should admit that Federer is their GOAT and savior and Ralph should retire and take up fishing in Mallorca full time.

We just marvel that Fedal playing so well at this age. Now, here is another twist to it.

1. Ralph reaches SF in Wimbledon last year.
2. Roger reaches SF in Rolland Garros this year.

They produce outstanding performances even in places where you don't expect them. :cheerleader:
I agree with you. However, I have to add the caveat that Nadal would be expected to reach the semi finals at Wimbledon because the grass changes significantly in the second week. For Roger, I am surprised, considering that he has played on the surface for 4 years.

Agree. He has nothing to lose in the SF match and I'm sure he is counting on that Pressure is on Rafa and will be very interesting how this match unfolds. I am really happy to see them face once again.

Exactly what I was thinking! Would "the end" be more humiliating? He's owned the "old guy," but who winds up on top; FED?

I thought you'd be ròoting for Thiem.
lol..why would I root for a nobody like that.I like manly men.Thiem is winning nothing and he will continue to win nothing.I think in two years time I seethe likes of Shapavalov Aliassime and others winning before him .He will continue to throw hissy fits and its obvious he has beef with Serena this didnt start at this event. He talked bad about her after the USA Open.I think when Serena heard that it was him in the press room she said to herself he has to go..lol
He picks on women instead of tackling Kyrios who disses his peers left and right...he scared that Kyrios might expose him for who he really is.

You do realize that Thiem just won a Masters, beating Roger in the final no less? It isn't a Slam but it isn't nothing.

Tossip is not exactly a Nole fan. She is Serena fan. She got angry at Thiem as the snafu projected Serena in bad (true) light.
Then, she got angry at Fed as he seemed to support Thiem and come against Serena. So, she is supporting Nole now. This will
be in plain sight for regular followers of TF.

ok so she is a hormone driven donkey then, with monthly mood swings.

But no matter how it swings, Serena can't get on score board if she goes one on one vs Thiem.

I might have been on Serena's side at the US Open (although it's more accurate to say I blamed the umpire more than her), but come on... Thiem was perfectly justified to criticise her there. Why you would think that implies a specific animosity from him I don't know. Serena was flat out wrong here with the interview room thing. It was flat out disrespectful and what gets me with a lot of folks is that if a man had done that to a woman there would be a thread created just to complain about it. I guarantee you this, if Roger, Rafa or Novak had suffered a bad loss, they would have had the grace and class to wait or at the very least apologise to Thiem if something like that had been attempted on their behalf. That's what gets me. If you claim Serena didn't know she should have been trying to smooth things out in the background. Clearly she didn't. I remember her coming to a bar in Wimbledon Village with her sister and having the place disrupted to accommodate her royalness. If anything I like Thiem more now, not less
