He's been injured for so long, he's slipped out of anybody's thoughts other than his mothers.... It's a nice win for him after a long road back and although I don't begrudge him the spoils of victory after a lot of hard work, I really wanted Zverev to take this title.

Not many fans know well Mayer, but he has been 2 time QF at Wimbledon and that tells you something.
It is his best surface, no doubt, and yes he has been injured in the recent years. He is now back into the top 100 with this win.

Zverev will have his chances. This is how you learn when you are a young player.

Wow amazing feat by Mayer. I've always subconsciously followed him since he played Novak in the quarters of Wimbledon in 2011, which despite being a while ago looked like it was going to be his high point in his career. He dropped off the face of the earth for years because of those injuries, but what a comeback! Well done.

Is he playing qualies at Wimbledon?

I hope Mayer plays in Wimbledon and as well as he has played in Halle

Very true. Mayer has a funky enough game that a lot of people may tend to remember him well even though he hasn't done much the past few years. I figured he would present some trouble for the young guys once he made the semis.
