^Agreed except I don't think there'd be scar tissue if he loses tomorrow. A win by Zverev tomorrow helps him a lot more than it hurts Roger. Fed knows he has to step it up more at Wimbledon and he will. He's lost serve a lot considering it's Halle and the competition he's faced.

Agreed that a win by Zverev helps him more than it hurts Roger. I do think, should Sasha win tomorrow, and they meet at Wimbledon, it would be late-stages, and Roger would have the hangover of 2 straight losses on grass to Zverev. I think that would pressure Roger, especially as he would be having so much on the line. But that's a long way off. I'm also sure that Roger is trying to peak for 3 weeks from now, and he's had good prep.

No one was counting #9 last year, figured he'd lose to Zverev given his form. This year I wouldn't be surprised by either result, Roger was very unimpressive today. A loss doesn't change much heading to Wimbledon, id still favor him in best of 5 there over Zverev but if he loses tomorrow it would be a tougher task at Wimbledon.
1st GSM, next Darth..if Front tells me that he wouldn't be surprised if Roger losses ,smh

No doubts that grass is the Roger's better surface seeing his results from some years ego, 7 wins is a lot and of course he is focus to reach the "8" but I see Wimbledon very open, I mean I wouldn't bet my money for anyone because I can't see who will be the winner, on the contrary I think we will see a very competitive tournament. I have not any idea how Rafa, Novak and Murray will play but maybe they will be able to do well. And the young ones? who knows, Zverev won Roma but he couldn't do too much in RG so if he would win tomorrow who knows how he will do in Wimbledon. Kyrgios doesn't look very healthy physically and mentally, Thiem? who knows too. Maybe we will continue watching the competition between the guys in the 30's and over?

Much like 2015 and 2016 for Rafa I wouldn't put any stock into Roger losing a match to Zverev last year. He played 3 grass tourneys and bowed out badly in the semis of all 3. Tomorrow is different, as you say both are different players.

So far so good, Roger is lethal right now and Zverev is struggling badly.

Roger sends him tumbling at the net with a drop shot.

Zverev still needs a lot of work at net and Roger of course realizes that all too well.

Yes his net game is really bad, and Roger is aware of that. He is also not enjoying the change of pace.

Brutal beatdown, hope he brings this to Wimbledon. Khachanov hits so hard off every ball it is easy to see why it frustrated Fed. Add that to Roger only serving to the big forehand and it was a much tougher match. Zverev hits big too but it's not the same go for it all mentality off every shot that Khachanov has

Epic beat-down. Roger looked pretty good and I think will be ready for Wimbledon, but Sascha's performance was disappointing. He's got to learn to regulate his frustration.
