The Tournament:

The German Open welcomes 32 top singles players and 16 doubles teams to the summer clay-court event as one of the 13 ATP World Tour 500 stops. The tournament is held in the heart of Hamburg at the Rothenbaum Tennis Center, which features a retractable roof stadium seating 13,200 spectators, making it the largest centre court in Germany.

About City

Hamburg is the second largest city in Germany and the eighth largest city in the European Union. Its population is over 1.7 million people, and the Hamburg Metropolitan Region has more than 5 million inhabitants. The city is situated on the river Elbe. Hamburg is a transport hub, being the 2nd largest port in Europe. An affluent city, it has become a media and industrial centre, with plants and facilities belonging to Airbus, Blohm + Voss and Aurubis. The radio and television broadcaster Norddeutcher Rundfunk and publishers such as Gruner + Jahr and Spiegel-Verlag are pillars of the important media industry in Hamburg. Hamburg has been an important financial centre for centuries, and is the seat of the world's second oldest bank, Berenberg Bank. It is one of the main cities in Germany for shooting television commercials.

The many streams, rivers and canals are crossed by some 2,500 bridges, more than London, Amsterdam and Venice put together. Hamburg has more bridges inside its city limits than any other city in the world and more canals than Amsterdam and Venice combined.

Hamburg is the birthplace of Johannes Brahms, who spent his formative early years in the city, and the birthplace and home of the famous waltz composer Oscar Fetras, who wrote the well-known "Mondnacht auf der Alster" waltz.

Posting for all of these tournaments is a bit of a slog. It's easy to make a mistake. Sorry for any inconvenience. You know, there's no tennis industrial complex behind these forums, just a few schlubs on our free time putting it up so you can swan around making opinions. You might be a bit kinder. A PM might have worked as well as a face-palm.

Didn't mean to be critical. I know it is volunteer work. But, can't resist using a face palm when I saw the Halle draw. Can't find chill out icon. Imagine it here.

You could have resisted it by letting me know off-line. I can't find the you're-an-ungrateful-putz icon. Imagine it here. :-)2

Look, GSM, you really need to be smarter here. Your prejudice is disrupting a very beautiful moment. EVERYONE KNOWS what is happening:Moxie is slowly turning in to a Federer fan. This was just a little Freudian slip. Don´t give her a hard time, let things grow naturally.

Moxie is a great appreciator of Federer. This is not uncommon amongst Nadal fans (#generous,) while the reverse is rarely true. (#sadbitter) Generosity notwithstanding, I won't be moving over to the dark side. #whenhellfreezesover :finger:

Gilles Simon has two adorable young blonde boys. They were in his box today with their Mom.

I don't know how to start a new thread - or if I even have the ability to - but, just an FYI - the Serbian tennis federations doctor says Djokovic has "bone bruise" and probably won't play the US Open and needs 6-12 weeks to heal to avoid surgery. If true that mean Djokovic won't be defending his Canada Masters title either. So there goes 2200 points down the drain for Djokovic. Better to just skip the rest of the season than come back for the Paris Masters just to try to make the Tour Finals - which would be a long shot since he's currently #7 by only about 600 points.

I am watching bits of the Molleker match on a stream and I can tell you this kid is the real deal. He will probably lose this match, but he is simply going toe to toe with Kachanov who is a helluva big hitter.

He looks very promising indeed.
