RE: General tennis news

For accuracy's sake, here are Gulbis' comments (which, while still out of touch, are not quite as bad as the sensationalist headline would have you believe):

“I wouldn’t like my sisters to become professional tennis players. It’s (a) tough choice of life,” Gulbis said. “A woman needs to enjoy life a little bit more. Needs to think about family, needs to think about kids.”

He said female tennis players can’t think about having kids until they are in their late 20s, and “that’s tough for a woman, I think.”

I still strongly disagree with what he's saying but the headline really made him sound like a sexist pig (his comments are actually sexist, just not over the top revolting).

I love how Novak deferred, "everyone is entitled to their opinion." :lolz:

SMH. Some people should never open their mouths, just swing the damn racquet already, OK!

I wonder if Ernie realizes that Fed (his next opponent) is married to a tennis player. This totally blows his theory out of the water. Mirka was a tennis player and then had her first set of children in her 20's. If we take the law of averages, she's probably birthed at least 2 future tennis players, right?

So what say you now Lord Ernie?

What do you guys think of Andy's choice of tennis players for a football match?

Hilarious, and amazing he did that on the fly. I'd like to revisit the keeper. Fognini would get sent off for sure, so he's right to keep him off. Also interesting that Djokovic is left-footed…might say something about why his 2-hander is such a strong shot.

I honestly can't remember Connors commentating last year. I'm kind of glad there will be no Boris this year. Thanks Novak.

Last time he commentated for the Beeb was 2007, I think. Yeah, I'm glad Becker is gone. I saw that in the new book on Lendl, Becker is described as the tennis "philosopher king."
