Sure am, AP. He twists and turns for serves and overheads but I'm crunching pretty big weight in the gym. Both pretty hard on your back and I don't think Roger pinching something in training is any major worry and he'll be back (pun intended) at Rome.

Ok , we shall see..btw have Roger ever taken an injury or medical time our during a match , if so it's not many.

Just say not many; Fed's no angel! He's done it all; smacked a racket, cursed out an umpire, and no doubt other acts that any tennis player does in front or not on camera for all to see! Just check You Tube! ;-/ :cover :nono  :eyepop

LOL, overreact much? He just asked me if he ever took a MTO during a match.

I just get a little exasperated with how people put Roger on a pedestal like he's so above any "shadiness!" He's been #1; there are no saints out there! They all have a past and heaven knows what's to come in their future! :cover :puzzled

Fiero watch the match if you haven't seen it already. He has not taken shady MTOs and that particular one he was winning the match and took it after the set was over and was clearly rigid before he took it. This is not a guy who takes a friggin dump before his opponent serves for the match.

He won the first set TB 7-1 but look at how softly he was hitting the ball in the 5-6 game and TB and his movement is clearly off in that TB. He took a few minutes after the 1st set ended. No disruption to the opponent who was losing anyway. That is not a shady MTO.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/tennis/wimbledon/9370715/Wimbledon-2012-Roger-Federer-recovers-from-first-set-injury-scare-to-reach-quarter-finals.html

" Clearly stiffened and discomforted, at times scratching around to retrieve Malisse’s low serves, he made more unforced errors in one match than he generally does in an entire season.

The muscle jolt was caused, he said, by a combination of his lengthy battle with Julien Benneteau last week, a couple of poor nights’ sleep and the chill wind out on Centre Court.

A man normally so robust – as you might expect from a physiology seemingly constructed entirely of india rubber – he was obliged to seek a medical time-out to fill up on pain killers."

Give the guy a break. He only takes legit MTOs.

LOL. Yeah, you're right: he's no saint and there are no saints out there. But Roger is as classy as classy gets. Gandhi supposedly slept naked with young nubile women to test his purity, but he was still a great man.

I actually like Fed missing Miami and Madrid. However, it would have been much better if it was a voluntary miss. You cannot really count these weeks as rested weeks considering he travelled to the tournament site and was practicing with the intention to play.

A couple years ago, I would have thought this draw unfair, but Nole has no fear of playing Nadal in the Qtr's or possibly Federer/Kei winner in the semi's! Murray has it easy until the final unless Stan conjures up some athletic magic! :nono  :dodgy:

I like Fed's this year's clay schedule. Play as less as possible on clay. Continue to play RG and don't skip it. To be in decent form at RG, play a couple of Masters before that. What better Masters to play to get match practice than MC and Rome, the two which he has never won. Further playing early at MC would let him know what areas he needs to work on. He can then focus on those areas in practice and give another try at Rome where conditions are similar to that of RG.

Although this year it happened by accident, I hope he plans to keep MC, Rome and RG as his clay calendar until he retires.

Good thing that Fed signed up for both Stuttgart and Halle. Hopefully, that should be enough of a match practice before Wimbledon. The draw at either one of these will not be as brutal as that of a Masters. However, that may be good in its own way too. You don't want very difficult matches when you are just coming off an injury. Further, winning tourneys always raises one's confidence.

His schedule is falling apart. One has to wonder how much he will play in the second half of the season.
Aging is an inevitable beast.

Given the surgery and all these recurring injuries, If he wins a big trophy this year (i.e., a GS or OSG or WTF), I think he will call it by the end of this year contrary to his announcements otherwise.

At the current rate, I would not bet he will make it to the WTF. He had played only 15 matches all year long.

Sadly that is true. He has withdrawn from more tournaments than played. He has played in 4 (Brisbane, AO, MC and Rome). But, he has withdrawn from 6 (Rotterdam, Dubai, IW, Miami, Madrid and RG). Moreover in half of these withdrawals (Miami, Madrid and RG) he even went to the playing site and practiced. :cry

Despite playing only 15 matches, he is still at #13 in the Race to London. So, I am sure he will make it to London.

He dropped to #6 or 7 last season even when #2 in the world! Making 2 GS finals saved him and allowed him to stay in the top rung of the rankings! I'm not sure he'll be able to accomplish that this time! Too much is going against him! :dodgy: :shy:
