Was that you
Was that you?

Well first of all I did say that Federer can appear conceited. But please don't confuse false modesty with modesty where Rafa is concerned. Saying that he isn't the favourite when he so obviously is, isn't modest. It's a special kind of arrogance laced with deflection. Who cares!? I rather like that Roger says I'm the favourite. What I don't like are poncy jackets being brought on to Centre Court!

And as for practicing with fans. Go on to youtube mate. You'll see Federer doing that time and time again. And I have no doubt other tennis players do it as well

Nadal spents over 30 mins just signing peoples balls and clothes, that's modest as you can get.

mate what does that have to do with modesty? Federer does the same, if not more. That's just taking care of your fans. It's called smart business
OK so Federer does the something, yes it is smart business. but you are missing the point Nadal would do the something if he was 150 ranked in the world, he does it because he loves he fans. Plus nadal just says those things about wtf because he want it fair for everyone, it would help players like thiem, Wawrinka, and the other Spain players.

Mate what does this have to do with Federer's schedule?? FFS... I'm sure there's a Rafa fan thread you can put this stuff in. Doing all that stuff doesn't make these players saints, and quite frankly you don't know what Rafa would do if he was ranked 150. It hasn't happened!

And another thing. Perhaps players like Federer should complain about RG being on clay then. It would be fairer for him and all the American players  Please get real...

Federer should Skipp Montreal or CMS because its clear he can not more than 2 events in a row.

that's what most Fed fans have been saying and hoping. Dump Toronto this year and just do Cincy followed by Flushing

Your guy hasn't played since he withdrew from the "AO". I would be more concerned with that and post your adoration on a thread that is more in tune with the topic.
But if Federer plays the clay court season won't that hurt he's Wimbledon chances?

Fed is unlikely to play Montreal. Fed will take a minimum of five continuous weeks of R&R after M is over. His maximum clay schedule will be Madrid, Rome and RG. His minimum clay schedule will be no play at all. Most likely he will play just Rome and RG.

I think if Federer wants to win RG, he should play Monte Carlo, Madrid Rome, RG to be 100% ready on the surface. If Federer does win RG he could win the grand slam this year.

frankly, he's won RG already. I couldn't care a hoot if he never competes there again. Wimbledon is more important. Nothing should put that at risk in my view

why do you say Wimbly is more important than RG ? he already won it several times, he shouldn't care about it uh ??

It’s the one he wants to win. Fans can talk about RG all they want, given the choice he has consistently stated that Wimbledon is his priority

In fairness, I think they mean that Wimbledon is more important to Roger, in that he has a greater chance to win it. As fans, they don't want him to compromise it. The "issue" with those 2 Slams has always been that they're so close together. It's really hard to win both.

If Federer's knees truly feel "weird" on clay he probably shouldn't ever play on it again. At his age a bad injury could be all she wrote. It's not necessarily about Wimbledon being more important to him, it's about risk vs. reward. And frankly even if Nadal is low on form or even misses RG the only way Roger should play is if he truly doesn't think he's at a greater risk of injury compared to the other surfaces.

That would be a schedule designed by a Nadalite to make sure Fed gets toasted completely for the rest of the year.
Hope you were not seriously suggesting it with good intentions.

If at all Fed plays on clay, I think he would limit himself to Rome and RG.

Note that Fed currently has 2500 points in race and Cilic, the person with second race ranking, has only 1335 points (almost like half). If Fed manages to defend successfully both IW and M, his lead over the nearest contender in the race rankings would be so high that playing on clay to ensure YE #1 will no longer be needed. In that case, the only reason to play on clay would be to win RG outright.

Ok, good point but Federer, wants to win RG, playing only two clays events is not going to do it. But he's most likely better at Wimbledon anyway.

I disagree that he needs more than 2 events to win RG. If he's playing well, feeling OK with the knee, and Nadal is not top drawer, he'd have a good shot. Especially if Djokovic isn't back to top form, and I don't really think he will be by RG or W. As to the bolded above: ya think? 8 Wimbledons v. 1 RG...I think you can say he's definitively better at Wimbledon. Also, than anyone else, including Sampras.

Federer, playing so little on clay and winning that's never happened before, and its not going to start this year. We going to have to agree to disagree on this one.
