Always nice to see Roger win one against Rafa once in a blue moon but given the surface he SHOULD win regardless of form. Roger didn't look too good all week but it's nice that he gutted out a few tough matches including the finals.

It'd be awesome to see him finish #2 at age 34 for the 2nd straight year but I actually wouldn't mind seeing him skip Paris to really target YEC. It's tough to picture anyone beating Nole in London but if Roger could somehow pull off another one there it'd be a huge win and it'd protect his record there. If Nole wins it again this year he's probably finishing with at least 7 YEC's.

Yes, winning WTF would actually make a difference of 2 in the WTF wars; as it is not just one more WTF won but also one taken away from Nole.

Roger sure did not look great in Basel this year, not just in finals but throughout the week. But, I would attribute at least half of that to lack of motivation to bring A game all the time as opposed to decline.

I believe Fed is the only player to have won 5 tourneys at least 6 times and also 6 toruneys at least 6 times (not sure of 7 tourneys at least 5 times).

Isn't this the case with all the great players though? They play the same tourneys over and over again, so they're bound to have 4-5 wins for each tourney. You can do the same accounting of Nadal and the clay court tourneys he's won. 9 French Opens account for 64.3% of his Slam total of 14.

That's 36 of his 67 titles. I'm too lazy to count up the smaller 500 and 250 tourneys, but really - they all win the same tourneys over and over again because there's a finite number of tourneys (especially Masters and 500 events) played every year. The scary thing is that Nadal is arguably considered the 2nd greatest player ever (I'd vote for Pete) - and he's only won 20 non-clay tournaments in his entire career and has never won the year-end championship.
