A day out

Sometimes we all need a change of scene.
Sometimes it's nice to remember all the places we've been.
The first days out I went on were to the coast as a little girl & we spent the day on the beach.
We took 4 flasks & had 2 sandwiches each.
We used to have a ride on a ship.
We also used to go in the sea for a dip.
Now I've grown up most days out are shopping trips.
When we go to the coast we go shopping too & on nice days we have boat trips.
We visit more museums, art galleries & castles as we use travel to broaden our mind.
All the decent markets, antique shops & cafes we seem to find.
We go to 1940's weekends too.
We enjoy seeing the costumes, items & dancing & we join in the sing-songs too.

I don't like too much sun.
I don't mean to spoil everyone's fun.
I suffer from really bad hay-fever & heat-stroke.
The stinging, itching & watery eyes are no joke.
I don't like having the sneezes.
I prefer cool breezes.
I end up needing to take a snooze around 2 o'clock.
The flies start bugging us so we end up burning citronella candles or walking about with fly-swatters to give them a knock.
I always use my factor 50 sun tan lotion.
I nearly always read a book outside when I get the notion.
When I'm on holiday abroad I sometimes go in the ocean.
I love going on a ship on a warm day.
The ships normally go round the bay.
I used to love going in a swimming pool.
That & ice-creams on a hot day used to keep me cool.

When things go wrong I wish that everybody would always do the right thing & tell the truth.
I wish before punishing people they'd look at all versions of the story & consider the proof.
I wish life was always fair.
Examples of life being fair though are very rare.

We must have a dream to follow.
We must have joy as well as sorrow.
We must have friends as well as foes.
We must have highs as well as lows.

We all need to look after ourself.
We need to think about our health.
Our health is more important than our wealth.

 

[Horsa]

You have the right to be who you are.
You have the right to shine like a star.
You can go where you like both near & far.

 

[Horsa]

You have the right to make up & change your own mind.
Anyone who can't handle this is so unrefined.

You must have ups as well as downs.
You must wear smiles as well as frowns.

I've been a bit depressed recently. I've really been missing my Gran. I wrote this to get things off my chest & make me feel better. I hope it doesn't upset anyone.

Death comes to us all some day.
When friends lose someone close we don't know what to say.

We don't really lose people, they're always on our mind.
There are a lot of people who haven't realised this & for them have pined.

We all regret not doing something for them or saying something to them or some things we've done or said.
It's too late to make amends with people when they're dead.

We remember all the good times we had forever & the impact they had on our life.
When bereavement hits us it cuts us like a knife.

We really miss family & friends.
This feeling gets better though it never ends.

When will people see all the damage they are doing to the earth?
When will people see all the devastation caused by all these wars?
When will people see their destructive behaviour is not a reason for mirth?
When will people see the hurt caused to others by unthoughtful use of their jaws?

Emotions

People have all different emotions.
They can feel happy or sad.
They can be upset or angry.
They can also feel glad.
They can get depressed.
They can feel grief.
They can feel anxious.
They can have feelings of shock or disbelief.
They can be disgusted.
Sometimes it's memories that cause these feelings & sometimes they are caused by how they are treated & what's going on in the world.
You've got to be careful if these feelings get extreme.
They can stop you from thinking straight & harsh words to other people can be hurled.
This can have many consequences.

Follow your dreams.
I want to see people whose face beams.
Do what you want to do.
What you do is up to you.
You can be who or what you want to be.
Allow yourself to be free.

1 part of the human race is full of greed.
The other part is full of need.
Some people waste their food.
Other people's minds on where they're getting their next meal from they must brood.
Some people get more than enough.
Other people find making ends meet tough.
We dump lots of chemicals in the sea.
Then it's not safe to paddle or swim in for you or me.
We also have to eat fish that have been swimming there.
We send lots of smoke & exhaust fumes into the air.
Then we wonder why more people have asthma than ever before.
Some people find thinking about this a bore.

It's up to you what you do.
Who you're friends with is also up to you.

It's your choice what you say.
You can do everything your way.

No one has a right to tell you what to think.
It doesn't matter whether you speak your mind or put your thoughts down in ink.

The joys of life

When things are going wrong it helps to think of all the joys of life.
It really helps when circumstances cut you like a knife.

I love to see horses in a field running free.
They're as free as a bird like most people should be.

I love to hear the birds singing at dawn.
Those sounds make you glad you were born.

I love to listen to music & sing along.
There is no sound better than a well-sung song.

It's good to be on a nice, clean beach on a hot, summer's day.
A ride on a ship is also a great idea when the weather is hot even if you're just going round the bay.

I love to see daffodils in spring.
I love people their cheery & wise words to bring.

I love sheepdogs running & coming up to you for a stroke.
I love listening to a good joke.

I like all colours except green, grey, brown & black especially yellow, silver & gold.
I love good poetry whether written or told.

I love the feeling & look of leather, satin, silk, velvet & lace.
Most animals are ace.
I love to see dancers poise & grace.

I love learning new things.
I love the feeling of achievement this sometimes brings.
