The Russians took out the Williamses and so it could be said that they deserve.
However, the russians were seeded #4 and somebody else did the job of
taking out the higher seeded pairs. The russians did not defeat #1, #2 or #3 seeds.

Anyway, congrats to Makarova and Vesnina.

I just want to give props to Ipek Soylu, the first ever Grand slam Champion from my home country of Turkey and her partner Jil Belen Teichmann from Switzerland for winning the junior's doubles at the Open.

Heartbreaking loss for Hingis in the women's doubles final.
Up a set and a break and lost :sleepy:
Thrillingly close games early in the 3rd set that could have gone either way.
But, at least she knows she can win the Australian Open next year and other slams.

Hingis' groundstrokes looked awesome, and her serve was better than usual :speechless:
I'm not saying she would be top of the world, but she could still play singles and win a lot of matches, because her backhand is scintillating.....and there are players on the WTA doing well without strong serves.

I mean, I know she won't have the court speed of 2006 (when she finished the year ranked 7th), but she could win a lot of matches and maybe sneak a title here and there.

Well we all know noone has more  for Swiss Miss thank AP.. I am glad that she is back and she will capture a few more GS titles in dbls.. As for Singles.. I think if Erani can get by with that weak serve, surely Swiss Miss could win a lot of matches..I just doubt if her body could handle the stress and the pounding of the grueling WTA tour schedules:angel:
