The first women's doubles semi is complete:

Makarova (4) / Vesnina (4) d. Date-Krumm / Barbora Zahlavova Strycova — 7-5, 6-3

Makarova is continuing to have a great tournament.

Mirza and Black got crushed in the semis.

The fourth seeded Makarova and Vesnina face the unseeded Hingis and Pennetta in
the finals.

I root, not necessarily predict, for Hingis and Pennetta.

When will the doubles match be played, this really interests me. Have a soft spot for Elena, since we have had some communication with each other, but conversely got to tip my hat off to Flavia and Martina.

Women's doubles finals will be played on saturday in Ashe right after the end of the two
men's semifinal.

If the men don't seem to get out of the court, they will move the match to Armstrong
or Grandstand.

Hope Sania Mirza and Soares wins the mixed doubles. These two are not ad hoc partners
and they are sticking with each other for quite some time now despite not lifting any title.
They have easy opponents, at least on paper.

Go Sania!

Congratulations to Sania Mirza and Bruno Soares for winning the Mixed Doubles event
at USO :clap:clap I think this is the third Mixed Doubles title for Sania. She has won a couple with
Mahesh Bhupathi. I belive this is the first title for Soares.

Sania and Soares were the #1 seeds and they lived up to it.

You may say what is the big deal. Unlike in singles and regular doubles, the seeds
usually do not hold in mixed doubles.

It was Soares 2nd Mixed doubles title
Mirza only needs to win Wimbledon Mixed doubles title and she will have won all the 4 Majors
Well done.It was a exciting Super Tie Breaker.

It is a travesty that they use a super tie breaker in mixed doubles at grand slams.
Come on, there is enough time in the grand scheme of things to completely play out
a third set in case the score is one set all after the first two sets are over.

Note that I am ok with a regular tie breaker in the final set, in case the game score
comes down to 6-6. I am not asking for no TB in the last set policy.

But, I sure hate the super tie breaker. We should avoid deciding titles by lottery
as much as possible.

I have a problem with ultimate set TB's! After all these years, I'm still holding onto what is perceived as some kind of integrity in the game! I liked what Wimbledon was doing up to the mid or late 70's; TB at 8 all instead of 6 and none in the 5th set (3rd for the ladies)!

Great job by the 2 doubles masters.

Thanks for the correction.

I think Sania can get the Wimbledon too, especially considering that she is sticking with the
same partner and developing understanding. Usually mixed doubles pairs are so ad hoc
and many of them don't have on court understandings. The other pair that is sticking together
is Nestor and Kristina.

Start time is "not before" 3:00 P.M.

Considering the men's semis don't begin until noon, it will probably be more like 5-6.

Well I also have a soft spot for Flavia we are Italians:) and I would love to see Flavia and Hingis win,I am torn in this doubles match.I have soo much respect for the Russian team, after seeing Makarova getting routed on court today against Serena.I am hoping that Makarova/Vesnina can win the doubles title....we Italians are compassionate people as well...:)

The ladies doubles final is set for 3:00 pm Eastern time.
The men's semis is half way done, 2 sets now completed, we are down to best of 3 sets now.
Keep tuned, I will update when match starts.

When I looked at ESPN scores last night, it seemed as if the ladies' doubles would be last! Oh well; good for me! I want to see Hingis take another major after all these years! Both will have retired only to return and do well! What does that say about the ladies; can succeed after extended absence? :nono :puzzled

The women's doubles is not being shown on ESPN or ESPN2 or CBS.

I think folks have to just watch it on usopen.org only

That is very unfortunate it is not being shown on the major channels. More than likely then TSN in Canada will not show it as well.:nono
