Bryan Brother just made it to the Semifinals. Two more to go before the glory.

Most probably, their next opponents will be Paes and Stephanek and that will
prove to be tougher match than the finals (whomever it may be against).

Did you watch the match? It was thrilling, in a way that only doubles can be. Crazy, quick points. Their reflexes are so sharp.

I feel the same: their SF will probably be a bigger challenge than the final, and it will probably be Paes/Stepanek. If they can get past them, the calendar GS will be within their grasp.

I also hope the networks keep broadcasting their matches, as they did this quarterfinal. The Bryans deserve the coverage they've finally been getting the last few days, and I hope ESPN/Tennis Channel/CBS keep it up.

I was just looking at the tournament schedule, and noticed that the men's doubles final is Sunday.

On Monday, the Bryans played their quarterfinal, and next Sunday they will (hopefully) play the final -- nearly one week later. It will be even weirder if their semifinal is Wednesday, and they don't have to play for 4 straight days. That may be a little too long for them to sit around.

Women's doubles is quite behind due to Serena being in both singles and doubles.
Women's doubels is supposed to finish first and then only men's doubles. I have a
vague hunch that may be they would move the men's doubles and women's doubles
finals around this year. I don't know how strict they are with respect to the originally
announced tournament scheduled.

By the way, the BB start at Ashe on Thursday morning.

I did not get to watch it. I heard that against Nestor and Popsicle, Mike and Bryan
switched their positions after losing the first set and that adjustment clicked for them.
But, they went back to original scheme from the next match.

RE: US Open Quarterfinals: Thursday, Sept 5 - Order of Play

Paes/Stepanek ended Bryans GYGS dream. Nothing against Bryans but nice to get a new GS champ team since 2012 RG.

I watched the first 1.5 sets when I went home for lunch break and thought BB
will win it in three sets as the score at that time was 6-3, 2-5 with BB serving.
L. Paes volleyed very well.

Oh well, that is a great chance missed. Having said that, you never know.
BB may get one more chance in the next few years to do so.

Kudos to LP and RS for stopping the unstoppable.

I'm disappointed and saddened on the Bryans' behalf, but Paes and Stepanek played a terrific match.

Maybe next year ...

:puzzled Hmmm maybe you should give him a name change.

Only watched the highlights, but congrats to the old guys on their triumph.

There's always next year for the chest thumping twins.

I looked at the draw a week ago and this was the match I thought would stop the run of the Bryan Bros. Paes has the best hands around the net of all time after Johnny Mac. My thoughts were that the RS the worm big serving and backhand would be able to penetrate the Bryan's excellent defense in the front court.

Actually, in the last set Peas had a chance to serve out for the match, but got
broker. Two games later, Radek had a chance to serve out for the match and got it
done. (Note: LS and RP were two breaks up at one time in the last set).

The second combination worked wonders as LP can volley superbly (especially
reflex volleys) and RS can serve much better. That seemed to be the secret of
success.

LP and RS won the Australian Open doubles in 2012 and so they are not
like a new pair either.

Finally, I believe that if they had schedule this match in court 456 and
no body was talking about it, Bryan Brothers would probably have won. It is
a different scenario when all eyes and limelight is on you.
