Well if any of you can record this match then I would like to see it as I have no working stream - only the scoreboard:nono

Happy she won 64 67 76 in 2h 52 min but frustrating just to follow on scoreboard.

Kvitova in a bit of trouble against Keys. Drops the first set 6-4 and barely hods serve to open the 2nd.

When was Kvitova's last win on a hard court?

In singles competition, the last win was against Jankovic in Qatar way back in February.

Keys plays like how Lindsay tells her to in the first set then she gets tired and cannot finish...she is not mentally tough thats all.

Who was the last player to win the last tuneup event prior to the beginning of a slam? Any slam?

Good trivia question! Maybe nobody is the answer?

I remember back in the day when Evert, Martina, Monica and Graf were winning events the weekend before a slam. Now, you don't see it anymore, and I wonder if playing or winning the last event before a slam is a smart thing to do.

History reflects whomever win the Conneticut Open will not win the Open.

If we make the question slightly easier, by saying who was the last player to play in the last tune-up and then win the event, the answer is Stan for men at this years RG. He played an inaugural event in Swiss to get appearance fee and after winning one or two matches, faked an injury and quit.

I'm more focused on the women. Primarily due to the fact, I believe it's happened more often on the men's tour.

Interesting contrast in the New Haven semifinals. In Wozniacki we have a player who was year end No. 1 two years in a row and has won a bunch of Premier events but amazingly zero Slams vs. Kvitova who has two Slams and the WTA Championship but incredibly not one week at the No. 1 position.

Such is tennis and the funtastic point system.

Back in the day, Venus played the Pilot Pen (New Haven) and went on to win the Open.

Which bubble are you living in? 42 of the slams since beginning of 2004 have been won by members of Big Four. None of them play in the week before GS. It should surely be happening more frequently in women's tour.
