Halep will withdraw even if she has an iota of grey matter.

I think she probably wanted to try to secure the #2 seed going into the US Open.Simona played fantastic , made it to the finals and combine with Pova withdrawal from Cincinnati , she knows that she will not have to face Serena again until a possible meeting in the finals.:clap

Well I just saw a girl having a complete meltdown - Bouchard SHOULD play smaller tournamentS to get going again - preferable 125K AND INTERNATIONALS - this was awful:

Keys won the first set and Svitolina retired after trailing in the third. The Connecticut withdrawls/retirements are in full force! It has to suck to be a tournament the week before a slam.

1. She has indeed withdrawn from Connecticut.

2. Any points won in Connecticut does not factor into determining the seeds at USO and so it does not make sense to be in the draw to begin with. If she did not get the #2 seed at Cincy, she is struck with it and cannot change it by playing in Connecticut.

I don't understand this. Maybe Canadians are too nice:huh: If she were an American player going through this, ESPN pundits would have already ripped her a new one, if only to jumpstart her brain again. I feel badly for her now; it's past embarrassing at this point:puzzled

GG, Canadians are not necessarily nice; GB is their only girl and they cannot dump her.

Well the same goes for Caroline she is the only Danish girl and if she plays like that she is really put in the machine. Canadians has to be critical instead of just hyping the girl. Genie has actually a good play - glimsewise now - but mentally she is chaos - will I lose again? and for the moment it's the way it goes. It's not enough to admit it's a really bad year if you don't work with it - IMHO.

Something merrier. Here are a couple of Caro pictures from New Haven:
