What's everyone think of the Winston case? Sounds like there was a definite lack of evidence and consistency on the accuser's part but also no surprise that there was not much of an effort made by Tallahassee PD.

I tend to believe the accusers in a rape case unless there is an obvious motive to lie (Kobe Bryant's case as an example...$$$) and there really isn't one here.

As far as guilt goes, I have no idea. As an outsider (who hasn't followed it too closely), I was honsestly surprised he didn't get charged and they at least had a hearing. Given the fact, that the accuser id'ed winston. These are tough ones, so I try not to say too much, because assuming he is innocent, it would be very unfair for his reputation to be tainted just based on allegations.

Reasonable approach but I just love to speculate :snigger

There seemed to be enough doubt and when the purported victim is admittedly drunk and hazy on some details it was going to be tough to get a conviction. And as they repeatedly mention the fact that they first started investigating this nearly a year after doesn't help. The taxi driver is probably the key as he would be the only truly neutral source (Winston getting backed by teammates hardly means a thing). And naturally they can't locate him after a year and who knows if he'd remember a thing about it at this point.

Agreed. It is just a tough situation. I am rooting for Duke today. Go Blue Devils! Go Spartans! All in the service of Auburn making the national championship. So most importantly, War Eagle!

It looks like we are headed to AUburn vs. FSU BCS Championship bowl game. At this time OSU is
trailing MSU. half time score 17-7.

Things will be more controversial if OSU wins and still don't get to play Title game.

OSU went down in flames and I was glad to see it. They are not the 2nd best team in the country, they probably aren't even top 5. FSU and Auburn are definitely the teams that deserve it most, it should be a good one. FSU will definitely be favorites but it should be entertaining at least.

There is no controversy and Auburn and FSU deserve to play in title game.

However, I don't like it too much. Auburn is one dimensional. FSU won only
2 games against opponents who still remain ranked.

But, college football is never perfect.

Like you said, college football is never perfect. We knew last year's was going to be a joke before the first snap and the year before was awful too even though Alabama-LSU was expected to be a good game.

This one should have plenty of fireworks, Auburn has one big advantage, like every SEC school, and that is they are way more tested than FSU who only really had to deal with Clemson and then a couple 2nd tier teams. Auburn will be their toughest game by far while the same isn't necessarily true for a team that just beat Alabama.

Auburn is one dimensional, but that single dimension is very complicated! We have at least 4 rushers with different approaches, so it is pretty different from letting mark ingram or trent richardson loose. Need I say, yesterday was the best day of this year since the aussie open final?! I had a marathon sports bar session to watch the two games with friends. I was polite to my osu buddy.

I was blown away by our game yesterday. Trey Mason ran for 304 yards, and the whole team ran for 545 yards against a top 20 rush defense.

War Eagle!

plan to schedule the semis?

It was a good first week to open the college football season.

In Ireland, Penn State won with a field goal as time ran out against UCF (12-1 last year).

Neat story:

Wow. Yesterday was insane. Alabama, Oklahoma, Oregon, and A & M all went down. Insane, but great for my team, Auburn won 41-7!

Bit disappointed South Carolina lost, but I like Kentucky so that is great for them.

Return of the Lamecocks after a good three year run.

What was so disappointing about the UK loss is they ran ONE play the entire game...wildcat formation with a pulling guard. Nothing exotic at all. We knew it was coming and we still couldn't stop it. Hell, their guy was begging to come out(completely gassed), coach left him in there and ran it for 40 the next play!

Consecutive two TD fourth qtr lead games blown in a row.

I'm not overacting in saying this but we may have the worst defense I've seen in the 40 years I've covered us.

Flat out pathetic.

We'll be fortunate to go 6-6 this year.

The way the Sec is right now, 3 out of 4 years good is a very good run. There is too much depth to not have a rough season every couple years. Your defense is very rough this year.

That Miss state game was so depressing. If they and Auburn had played well and Auburn lost, I would have felt better, but it ended up being a matter of who doesn't do themselves too much damage. I also felt like Auburn outplayed them a lot of the game, and then could not do anything once Auburn got in the red zone (Statistically uncharacteristic of Auburn).

Like him or not .you have to admit , Famous Jamus is a Winner.. he knows how to get the job done on the field.. what a leader.. Did anyone see that throw he made last night between 2 or 3 of the Lousiville defenders.. that's some Marino type of passes, IMO

He seems to be really erratic this year going off stats. A lot of int's...but he has been clutch his whole college career. I will be interested to see where he goes in the draft. He is an idiot and in this day and age, more than ever, the extra baggage is something teams will try to avoid if possible.

The first NCAA football championship decided by playoff will feature the Big 10 playing the Pac 10 for the title. Shockingly SEC free. Time for Nick Saban to leave college football to coach the Jets. :snigger

OSU - Alabama was a great one. I thought it'd be closer than the Vegas line and that Alabama was getting too much respect. They did lose a game coming in and had a couple close calls so this was a "down year" for their crazy standards.

Aside from that I was surprised to see the Big 10 do well. UW won a thriller that I unfortunately missed coming back on a train from Chicago.

Wisconsin had a great game and Michigan State's final 7 minutes - incredible.

SEC West went 2-5 in the bowls. :snigger

I was watching it with a bunch of alabama fans, and I think most people in the SEC knew that Alabama was not as good nearly as their previous championship teams. The Sec West had to have a year eventually were most the teams were just meh.

Here's to hoping Nole plays tennis this year like Oregon played football.
